I know some of you guys have already seen me around a lot asking about building a rig. If you haven't, well hello. :) I've been thinking about what I should do for a good while now. It's a huge dilemma for me. I have an E2200 2.2ghz HP computer and I just purchased an HD4870 graphics card, Corsair 4GB DDR2 RAM, and Corsair TX750w PSU. I already have a BenQ 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor. Problem is, I cant overclock this thing because it's pre-built which is lame. Should I stick with this PC setup or jump the gun and build a whole new PC with one that can support Crossfire and all that? I dont want to go overboard and spend too much. $1500 or less would be about right. If I do decide to go with a whole new built PC, I'll definitely sell the HP computer and remove all the components I just bought. What do you guys think? Feel free to be honest. I just want this done and over with. It's been such a headache these past few weeks.

With my current PC, which games can I NOT play? Can I even play Crysis on a 1600x1200 resolution with high/very high settings? Honestly, I dont know. I'm such a newb when it comes to PC Hardware.

I've had a lot of help from some of the guys here on Gamespot and you guys know who you are. Big thanks! But I'm kinda OCD so I need a bit more help and support for this situation. Thanks in advance, guys. :)

Stay on the boat until july 20, that's when Intel will cut the prices on some of their cpus. Big price drop for the Q9550. For the motherboard, this GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 looks pretty good and is not too expensive. Here are more X38 and X48 motherboards for you to choose from.

I say... JUMP THE BOAT!

Seriously, it's quite worthwhile!

Now I feel like a hypocrite. xD

It is definately worth building a PC yourself if you are looking for a new one. However, an E2200 with a 4870 will play pretty much everything well for a good while yet-there is nothing wrong with it at all! I say wait...

ya i mean with the 4870 games will run fine but u will be much happier with ur own custom made pc, but if u can wait go ahead and wait because prices will come down and deals will become avaiable

It depends. If not having your own customised PC bothers you, then go ahead and build one! However, from a performance perspective there is not much point. Very few games will be limited by your current CPU.

You guys are awesome. Thank you for all the replies. I apologize for not responding sooner. I made this thread when I was at work in the office but I had to step out for a few hours. Now, I'm home actually - I was looking foward to the responses and I'm very happy with the replies. Looks like I'll wait it out for the Q9550 to drop down in price. I was eyeing that for a while now.

@Matrixian - That Gigabyte x48 motherboard is pretty cheap considering and it looks like it's crossfire enabled. Thanks for the recommendation.

@slyr114 - Thank you for the suggestions. I didnt think you could get so much stuff for only $1200. That's a great deal. I think I'll stick with my PC now and wait for price drops. The Q9550 if in the reasonable price range, I more than likely get that one. I would love to build my own PC. I've always wanted my own little disco in a box (all the led lights = cool). And I'd like a PC I can overclock --that would be nice.

So, I'll stay on the boat for now where it's nice and safe but I'll eventually jump the boat sometime mid August. With the release of the HD4870x2, it should change things around here, possibly price drops like you guys said. Thanks for all the input and feedback. I really appreciate it. Take care.
