The digital world will put many retail corporations out of business..
Its a going to happen a lot more than it has, and to way more than just games. (although Games, Movies, and Music will naturally be the first you see this significantly happen with, and it already has)
If the business's fight against it, instead of embracing/utilizing it, (which most have a hard time changing with the times) Then they setup their own demise...
Progress and moving forward, is to be expected. IF there was no progress or moving forward, lol Humanity would of been killed off first of all, and secondly we wouldn't even have a civilization to play games in!

I think some retail will always be needed. For instance, with clothes most people need to try them on. Clothes manufacturers all make their clothes slightly different sizes. Two pairs of jeans might have the same size but have a different fit that you need to try on first.
But yeah, media stuff can easily transition to digital distribution. The only downside is kids can't buy anything online (need to be 18 to have a credit card). So the what I could see happening is all the music/movie/game stores being replaced with a hybrid store that sells "online points" cards. A lot of those online stores sell cards in big stores like Walmart. When all this stuff is online, I could see there being a dedicated store that only stocks game/points cards so kids can essentially buy online stuff with their cash.

That's actually already happening. Lots of Music stores here in AUS sell "Online Gift Vouchers" etc... There are also ONLINE ONLY Credit Cards...[QUOTE="Lach0121"]

I am just stating that a good bit(not all)will be internet, or digital distributed as well as automated. We are gradually moving towards it as we speak, and have been for years.
Retail there will still be retail, but it too must change to accomodate a new age/time. (for our understands, as well as needs change, our systems must as well or they will fail) Walk into Wal Mart Super Center at the checkout lines, that is a sad (yet funny) example of a company that don't mind actually having lots of registers, but never has enough cashiers to even fill up half. Yet you see lines and lines and lines of people just waiting and waiting on the same 10 cashiers. (the more people multiply, the worse this will get) Just one tiny example.
Also on your kids buying stuff, there are pre-paid visa cards and such you can use at 13 years of age. (thats just one option that would be available now)
