Your loss dude.

No, it isn't.

Sure is! You haven't played TF2, HL2 and Portal... some of the greatest PC game experiences of all time.

Thats your opinion...not mine. I'm glad I don't have it on my PC and never will.

At least provide a reasonable objection rather than just stonewalling.

Again, meh. Steam gave me a bad first impression. For those of you who have no problems with it, good for you. To me it blows. And no matter what some of you think these problems are widespread at the moment (and unfortunately it isn't hardware or ISP related). Whether they will continue or not is unclear but as you know, the first impression is the most important one.

Out of 15 million users less I've heard less than 1% complain. Widespread now has a new definition.

well ive used steam since it was first out. and the original poster is right it is slow download sometimes, but sometimes it doesnt even download at all. ive used steam for years, this never was an issue at the beginning, so many users now i think its the issue. but i wouldnt bring steam down over that, even xbox live has its connection problems too but i wouldnt say it sucks, WoW has its slow connection too at times, nothing is perfect dude, i was downloading COD4 and it stopped at 45% but i wasnt complaining, so i resumed it the following morning ( i was downloading it at night at the time) plus my connection is stable at 1.2 - 1.5 MB/sec when downloading games from steam.

if you really want something to complain about try EA's version of steam. try getting your games from there, lol steam is heaven compared to that. plus im sure they will fix this in the future, maybe soon or maybe not but eventually.

It's most likely your ISP and/or location. I have Steam and I get over 1000kbps DL speeds, so I'm happy with it.

Man I hate dsl, I'm lucky to get 100-150 kbps.

There is one huge difference between XBL and WoW services. You pay a fee. Steam is a free application. I've downloaded games off of steam from extremely terrible connections located in the middle of no where and was still getting consistently great download speeds.

So I just bought a new Dell XPS laptop and decided to download a few games through Steam. What a waste of time and money. Avoid it.daviwinn

Ok a reasonable objection to why i will never have or play steam.

I don't like it.

Next time back up your claim with some substantial arguments. This isn't going to cut it.
