I've been thinking of upgrading to Windows 7, but don't know if I'll be able to play my older games off of steam (e.g. the longest journey). Is it possible to run steam games in windows XP mode in windows 7? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can run Steam games in WinXP mode, not that you'll ever really need to though. But if you do, just right click the game, go to properties, set launch options and enter "-winxp" without quotation marks.

You CAN'T run games in XP Mode.

XP Mode doesn't support DirectX or GPU acceleration.

I have 225 games on Steam. I have had zero issues using Windows 7 64 bit with them. I don't use the compatability mode for anything. The only thing I've found is some games need to be run as "Administrator".

The OP isn't talking about the Win 7 Pro XP Mode, they are talking about the App Compatibility setting.

Okay, thanks. I'll probably upgrade sometime this winter. Civilization III, here I come!
