I reinstalled Max Payne and Max Payne 2 because of this thread. Just finished the first one and am now on Part 1 Chapter 2 of Max Payne 2. So far, I have to agree, this game has stood well through the gaming ages. It is still among the best games ever made, and will likely stay that way for a very long time to come, if not forever.
How would max payne be different then from other games? We want it to be different just like the first 2 games....I would rather see them implement a cover system with destructible cover and smart enemy Ai that will flank you and use grenades to try and flush you out, you want it to be more of the same gameplay with invulnerable rolls and enemies that stand in one place and shoot at you until they are all dead.

What made Max Payne unique for me was the setting/style of the game and the slo-mo feature. There is no reason why those need to be lost by the inclusion of a cover system. They could make it so that the only way to shoot would be to get out of cover by either rolling out, standing up or jumping out of cover (in slo-mo of course). When you incorporate this with smarter AI's and destructible covers, I think it could make for a very exciting and challenging game that still retains the essence of what makes the game a Max Payne title.[QUOTE="Philmon"]

Just shot a video while playing, to show that you're not invulnerable during the slow-mo dive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMvn3bgIBhA
max payne 1 and 2 were both amazing games and i've finished each of them at least 5 times on all dificulties...
but i'm a bit scared for max payne 3...
it's made by rockstar and i don't remember a single game made by rockstar that i liked
i only hope they won't force you to spend a half of the time driving a stolen car and doing random side quests or something like that
and i also hope that they wont try to make it more "fun" in a rockstar way
I'm glad I found this thread. I never played the game. Having seen this thread I thought I try it out since it's cheap on steam. Glad I did. The game was awesome. My only complaint is it a bit too short. I wish the harder difficulties would of been unlock right from the start so that it would of last a bit longer. I beat the game in one day. Still, I had much more fun playing this game than any of the half-life 2 games.

The way R* are going perhaps Max Payne 3 wont even come out on the PC. didnt they make 3 or 4 games in a row that havent been ported?
Max Payne 3 is another game i've been waiting for years, i never played Max Payne one (i had a K6-II 450MHz with 64MB of Ram and a 8MB IGP back at the time) i've only played Max Payne 2 and it was amazing. If they keep things like in Max Payne 2, Max Payne 3 will be a great game. Peace ;)
Max Payne 1 and 2 are amazing. And i hope there is no cover system in 3, i mean - how do you take cover?
you F...ING CROUCH behind something.
Cover sistem ruined Mass Effect 2 for me.
OH, cover objects, 100% you'll be attacked - act surprise.
Hmm, this room has no cover - no enemies then.
In max Payne you go into a room and AW F... start John Woo sequence.

I don't mind cover but almost ALL games force you to use cover or die, resulting in unnatural blocky crate environments and limited potential of gameplay. Games like Max Payne you could go into cover manually or risk it out in the open either way being optimal choices, not to mention slo-mo diving while shooting people's more fun than hiding behind a rock.
I'm excited and worried about Max Payne 3 but I have a lot of faith in Rockstar.[QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="PRowcester"]I seriously wonder how Max Payne 3 is going to turn out. Please don't make a mess out of it Rockstar! Please! :) edinsftw
Id be worried i saw some stuff on a few sites and its not bullet time, but a cover system.
Why would they take out the bullet time that was one of the best parts of max payne only fear can rival its slo-mo imo :(. And replacing it with cover system has me worried last game that did this turned out worse because of it(Crysis 2) among several other reasons.
