Are u talking about Mugen? If so...it doesn't even compare with SF4.....and SF4 online works great....[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="charrr1234"]Considering the fact the only other major fighting game it's going against is freeware, insanely modable, and has been out for years with mods emulating almost every 2D fighting game ever made, the odds are stacked not in SF4 favor.Velocitas8
Exactly..PC has one or two good fighters already (contrary to popular belief), but Mugen is not among them. It may be quirky and fun, but no fighting game player takes it seriously. None of the good fighters on PC have native online play support as SF is going to have, either.
The only decent (and modern) PC fighters are Guilty Gear, the Melty Blood franchise, and a couple other Japanese fighters of doujin origin.
I'm glad to see a major fighting franchise making its way to PC.
Yeah....we should ALL buy SF4 for PC....just so that other companies see that we still want fighting games.... I soooo wanted to play DC vs Mortal Kombat on PC....Are you telliing me that Mugen games are far more playable and "fun" than Sf4? holy !@!@ on a candle stick!!! just simply admit your pc can't run the game than say something so utterly stupid and childish. Someone else also mention something about playing a game with over "one million low res characters". WHAT?
This here is a prime example of stupidity of epic proportions, wow.
well if i went to buy a fighting game i would get it for a console, i wouldnt want to sit here tapping keys and **** i would rather be on my 360 or soemthin with my mic and consoles have CONTROLERS i know you can get controllers for your comp but why go buy the gear and the game to play on your pc when you can just go buy the disk and play it on a console....i dont think sales will be so great for this on pc. i know you wanna play online, but consoles have online gaming capabilities.....xbox-codPeople often have gamepads for cerrtain games on PC, and many Pc gamers do not have consoles and see no reason to get one, geez.
I dont know whats big deal about gamepads.I had bought a cheap gamepad for my pc to play DMC4.Its collecting dust now bec i am finding keybaord lot easier than that gamepad.
Stree Fighter 4 is about to release on Steam. It's going to sell a ton of copies and be by far the most popular fighting game on PCs, ever. It will be the first fighter on PC to have a large, active, long term community.
Ok, I don't actually know for sure that all that is true, but I think it could happen. Street Fighter 4 on Steam should easily sell tens of thousands on the first day. The only thing that could go wrong is a poor job of porting.
I doubt if its sell a tons on the pc, ten of thousands? seriously? It will probally end up being a good game, but I doubt it if it cracks 300k total sales, It just not a big market for it on the PC.Street Fighter IV success can bring some other fighting games for PC, like Tekken, Soul Calibur, The King of Fighters and Mortal Kombat. It's a myth to think PC Gamers doesn't like fighting games. There're a lot of communities, arcade emulators and a lot of people interested in current generation games of this genre.
Of course....there is a program out there which lets you plays emulated fighting games on PC online (I can't mention it cause I will get moderated), but if you log on...there are 100s of people playing....and they are all PC players. Of course fighting games aren't as popular as the SF2 and MK4 days....but still heaps of people enjoy them. I have been playing SF4 online for the past 2 days.... I can't get enough of it. It looks amazing...and apart from the particular individual who insists on playing with a dial-up connection....the lag is non-existent....Street Fighter IV success can bring some other fighting games for PC, like Tekken, Soul Calibur, The King of Fighters and Mortal Kombat. WELL THERE ARE HARDLY ANY GOOD FIGHTING GAMES FOR PC UNLIKE XBOX 360 AND PS3 WHICH HAVE TEKKEN AND GAMES LIKE Soulcalibur IV THATS WHY WE THINK THAT STREET FIGHTER IS SO COOL WHERE AS PEOPLE WHO HAVE XBOX 360 AND PS3 KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STREET FIGHTER 4 AND SOULCALIBUR 4
I don't see any remotely significant impact on PC gaming from this game, let alone of a HUGE variety.
Fighting game over the years has clearly established its genre gamer base at consoles. Those who want and desire fighting game would've already owned at least one console platform.
now, SF 4 comes to PC...and many more fighting games might come in the future, but to me, it's just the current, and possibly future multi-platform trend: milking more money with a PC version won't hurt since most developers don't do any optimization for their PC dead horse, keeping the porting cost low. or, start with medium graphic quality PC version, and the console versions will automatically look good.
all told, if more fighting games come to PC in the future, they're simply part of the multi-platforming trend, not at least a sign of PC game developers and gamers all go nuts with fighting genre.
if it's the other way around, however, would be interesting: if not many pure fighting game follow SF 4, and we do know we will continue to see the likes of Ghostbusters, Prototype, GTA games and such in the future, then we'll know PC is just not for fighting games, not even worthy of milking extra cash.
as my personal sentiment for SF 4 this game, there's only nostalghia; that's the game I played (and I did) at my arcade days, and that was almost 20 years ago.
All true...but I've been playing SF4 for the last week....and heaps of people are always online...even though it hasn't come out yet in most countries... so it's looking goodI don't see any remotely significant impact on PC gaming from this game, let alone of a HUGE variety.

I hear you dude.... I'm nearly 31 and this brings me back to the glory days....of coming back from school and going to the local arcade. When u are playing Single Player...and someone challenges you...it even says "Here comes a new fighter", like you were at the arcadeI think a lot of people are going to be proven wrong..
this game is a throw back to old school.. a lot of pc only gamers are older people..the game plays much like the OLD old ones and i think they will appreciate that

The thing is though, Street Fighter IV did receive care and though on the PC version. It is extremely well optimized for PCs and Games for Windows live regardless of how shoddy the service is works really well with the game and getting an online match is a breeze.
IMO, it's worth it.
WRONG...wrong and wrong...wherever you heard that was lying. SP is solid...no bugs, looks awesome. Online works perfectly.... apart from the random slow connection person trying to playI've heard nothing but bad about it on the PC, especially the online apparently that is appauling.

I can't wait to see more reviews. So far they are all positive. I'm also excited to see how the Steam release will increase the player base.

Ya dude ur right itz terrible. Wish I didn't have this for the 360 already, could always go trade it in I suppose. I'm holding out for RE5 on the PC though.
There is no such thing as a type for PC >_> diversity...we need that, I love RPGs, RTSs and a few FPSs, racing games, etc, but diversity isn't bad. Also, what platform should Hello Kitty be for? it's a game for kids, why this obsession with it, anybody "cool" thinks that they should make Hello Kitty jokes because it's so awesome. This isn't the right type of game for PC. Course, neither is Hello Kitty Island Adventure :P

pretty much, he apparently forgot that final fantasy 7 was a ps1 game and was so requested on pc's that it was ported, same goes for ff8. these 2 are just off the very top of my head as im sure theres many others.
and if he tries to come back with "ff7 was terrible etc etc" he should check out the scores given to it from any gaming website. in fact, it's so good people are still trying to patch vista to play it.
Ahh, yeah, I'll ignore him.
Really, people like him give people a bad rep for PC gamers.
Did it ever occur to either of you that hes maybe... joking? *GASP*[QUOTE="knight0151"]

Sorry if thiswas said. ButI think what most people are forgetting, is the possible relief this could be for large tournament organizers. With SF4 being released on two major consoles, the fanbase is split, and makes it difficult to match people up at tournaments if one has a 360 stick, and the other has a ps3 stick, and no decent ps3 to 360 adapters or viceversa.
With SF4 on pc, you can use either stick from either console just fine. I could see major tournament organizers start using the pc as their medium, for sf4 atleast.
Maybe haha.
My God....that is such a GOOD point, never thought of that before. Here in Australia, at Sydney they organize SF4 tournaments all the time...with the arcade. But yeah, like you said, the PC version is flawless so tournies could be done on that.... I would soooooo kick butt with my KBSorry if thiswas said.
