Okay so I have an Alienware M11x, which I have had problems with since the beginning, and my problem is that sometimes certain games don't run too well. My Windows Experience Index is 5.3 (which is my lowest score, the others are 5.4, 5.4, 5.9, and 6.5). Yet somehow i can't play Mass Effect 3 without absurd amounts of lag (it says Mass Effect 3 only requires a score of 4, remember that my lowest score is 5.3). My question is that does anyone know how to fix this or what to do? I will post my system information below and also I'm not exactly a computer genius so try not to overwhelm me with too many long words. Windows 7 System Type - x64-based PC Processor - Intel Core i7 CPU, U 640 @ 1.20GHz, 1200 Mhz, 2 Cores, 4 Logical Processors That's all I could find that might be useful, let me know if there's anything else you need to know about my laptop.

Run this software and post what it says for graphics: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html Also, the fact that your cpu is only a dual-core running at 1.2 GHz, you might be expecting too much.

What gpu is in there? I'm thinking you should have no problem running ME3. How much ram (memory) do you have? Usually Alienwares have an icon on your desktop that you can double click and it'll bring up all the specs of your machine. One thing you should do is update your graphics driver. This could make all the difference in the wold. Go to nvidia's website and run the automatic detect tool in the driver section. And yes your CPU is below the minimum specs. ME3 needs a minimum of 1.8 ghz

So Mass Effect 3 is out of question but there's another game I have that is quite old and has bad graphics but I love it yet it lags. I would think my computer could handle it but apparently not. I have now updated my Nvidia graphics card or whatever it's called and I tried the CPU-Z thing and it didn't say much but here it is: Intel HD Graphics Revision - 2 Size - 1024 MBytes

If your processor is the speed I mentioned in my last post and you are running Intel for your primary graphics, then you're probably going to have to run every game on the lowest settings, and even then many games may not run at all. Again, if your CPU is a dual-core at 1.2GHz and your graphics are Intel - you do not meet the requirements for Mass Effect 3, and that would explain it lagging.

I'm not too experienced with computer talk or whatever you want to call it, why would that combination not work too well?

Its not a dedicated graphics card, its not made for gaming at all, some hd video and youtube is pretty much all it can do.

Your best bet to see what your laptop should be capable of would be to search nvidia 335m on youtube. The main thing to take note of would be what settings the various video posters are using, or to ask them.

EDIT: Apparently your laptop comes with a "switchable gpu" and it means you can effectively turn it off, this is what I'm seeing from your information you posted, I had a look and saw that some of them have a "Manually switchable card" so maybe there's some kind of switch on the laptop somewhere you can push to activate your graphics card. Sounds odd but have a look.

Ok so did a bit of googling (was surprisingly easy to find) and I found what appears to be the solution to many other peoples problems that you are having.
