I know how to make it work on xp flawlessly, but its a lot harder on vista. If you can, just play it on another older pc with xp. Or go to a friends house. Or the library. Or dual-boot xp. Do what it takes to make it run, because this game is amazing.greatmax1
Well, what would I have to do to make it work on XP? I happen to still have my old PC in the other room, and it has XP.
Don't worry about the naysayers. I've been using Vista Home Premium 32bit for nearly a year now, and I got System Shock 2 running FLAWLESSLY. I simply had to change the affinity in the process to one core (Since the game does not support multiple processors). I actually remember having problems running the game on XP.

How would I go about changing the game to only use 1 core? :P I think I might order it, the only reason I'm hesitant is I can only find it around the $50 price range.

Now, to theGTAvaccine, there is a whole forum dedicated to that : www.ttlg.com . There is also www.strangebedfellows.de for useful doanloadable fixes. I recommend you get it (i actually payed around $60 for my copy + shipping) and if you ever have problems just pm me about it. If its on xp, then there is a 100% chance we can get it working.

Yeah I was browsing that ttlg.com, but just real quick, how do I get it started with only 1 core running it?TheGTAvaccine
Load the game, alt tab out, ctrl alt del, processes tab, select SHOCK2.EXE, right click and go to set affinity, untick either cpu 1 or cpu 0.
You have to do it every time. There may be a way to set it up so it does it automatically, but it's not much of a hassle to do it manually.

Thanks alot, and to be honest, I've wanted to get SS2 for a while now, but it was actually your video review that really pushed me over the fence. You should feel good about that. :P
start game, press alt-ctrl-del, locate the active process of ss2, right click on it, and set it to run on 1 core only.
There you go, ss2 works now :P
