System Shock 2 rare?

Hey guys, I have an original copy of System Shock 2 that I am thinking of selling. Does anyone know if it is really a hard game to find as I am hearing?

it's rare, yea. iirc it's out of print and none of the major digital distributors are selling it. but i doubt it'll be easy to sell - most gamers who like it already have it, and those who don't most likely never heard of it and therefore don't care.

I have a copy stashed away somewhere, think it's in a special edition box, or did every copy come like that? The first system shock is probably more desirable as a rare game.

Depends where you Live, It is more rare in the US then in the EU, altho even in the EU it is rare.

It was never a high profile game so there were not alot of copys made in the first place (they doubted it would sell at all).

And since then it has gone out of print, with EA not looking to re-release it. (kind of a shame really).

As someone else said, alot of abandonware sites does have it floating around, so if it is a worn copy it might not bring in a lot of money.

If it is a pristine, or never used copy you have, then it can be worth quite a bit, it is considered one of the better games ever made.

SS2 is neither an adandonware nor a freeware, and downloading it off internet is an act of piracy, which should not be discussed on this forum.

it sucks it aint vista or win7 compatible, despite Deus Ex working fine.......anyone got tips or tricks to get it working? i still got it here along side Battlezone and Heroes of Might and Magic2 and 3 (i love my old school). XCOM Apoc is here somewhere to (sold Terror from the deep years back and regret it to this day)

It is indeed not abandonware, but when asked about it s worth, you do have to consider the fact that it does show up on abandonware sites (and abandonware is not legal per definition).

It is still owned and trademarked by EA, meaning they still owe the rights for it.

The fact that it was never made in huge numbers, but everyone and his dog has playied it does warrent a worry about the worth of the games worth (as a seller)

It does work on vista tho, (and likely win7) You just have to disable all but one core for the game (well set the game to only be bound to one core), and get the community patch. Playied it a few months back ^^

i also have ss1 next to my ss2, found 1 at my local flea market in a double pack with bioforge. though truthfully i have never played either.....

I sold my copy of system shock 2 on ebay for £25 which is about $40 I think

I have a boxed copy of System Shock 1 with manual and even the game guide. The box is in very good condition too. How much would something like this be worth?PainoGamer

System Shock 1 (game only w/ mods) is FREE. Your item is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for a complete set.

Awesome game pretty hard to find however,you cant run it in a new hardware, last time i checked i had to run on a single core and load very old nvidia drivers or the game kept on crashing!dakan45

What? I downloaded this fan patch (SSTool) and I could play through the whole game without issues, plus, I found a copy for 10 dollars in mint and complete shape. I'm a lucky bastard :P
