Minimum is an 8800.... yet, a 360 with a much weaker gpu is fine to run the game? This game must be an atrocious console port or horribly optimized. That, or they made the best looking game ever made for the pc; I highly doubt that.

That happens when you cant make impressive graphics but still you want to make the game look impressive even if you have to overload the engine in order to look good and eventually end up requring for super hardware.

Probably just gonna buy it on 360 anyway, I prefer racing games on console.

So, you see a relatively high end card on "recommended" and you guys get scared....?

As they said, the engine is slightly better than TDU, I have no doubt that an 8800GT will suffice for a good resolution and max settings, probably no AA thanks to the enhancements.

My concern is the actual game, Ibiza looks packed and full of detail but hopefully they added more detail to Oahu, not just the off-road sections, because the cities were pretty dull and most villages were copy paste just with a different orientation, if they also improve Orahu it'll be way better than TDU and possibly the best racing game with a multiplayer that allows it to become a MMO :).

The specs suggest either one of two things :-

1) it is an appalling port.

or

2) the minimum specs being used are to play the game at "console quality" settings @ 1280 x 720 / 30fps

I don't personally have a problem with the requirements since I have a quadcore and GTX260 but I will say these specs have put me back on the fence with regards to buying it. I will be waiting to see what the user feedback is on this game before I stump up my money.

Those reqs are insane!!!! Propably it will have no video settings apart from resolution and it will be a cheap port. That can somewhat justify the 8800GT as minium.

They won't do that. It will have proper settings.

No, took me a second too. Its Test Drive Unlimited 2 - which nullifies my interest completely. Thank god for companies like Blizzard and games like SC2 that dont have me thinking my performance is causing any lag.

hmm, well we have seen this kind of thing before... it might mean nothing. Its not like a 3870 = 8800, and those cpu requirements are nothing. However qulaity wise, Ill be surprised if this can compete with the recent codemasters games, it doesnt seem like anything can compete with dirt 2. This is very odd however, blur only recomends a 7800 which makes sense giving the power of current consoles... whats so different here? Heck the new prince of persia calls for a 6800!

Its not that big of a jump. If you think about it an 8800=9800 and the GT and GTX models dont have much a diffirent. neither the GTX+ model which is the same as GTS250, plus from what i heard the gtx260 does not have that much of a diffirence. So i would say that if minum an 8800 then 280 sounds fine for either high or maxing out.

metro 2033 is crazy scalable, lets put that discussion to rest. Metro 2033 runs on something like a gt230 just fine, but can take advantage of a gtx480... wheres the problem?
