I'm having problem with loading time in Tf2, both starting up and map loading. They take much longer than the other steam games i own like CS:S and L4D. I tried googling but most of the cases are because of weak PCs. However, my PC is pretty recent and now I don't know what to do... Help please!

PS: My PC is Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz; 8800GTS 640mb; Gigabyte P35-DS3P and all are updated with latest drivers.

What are your textures set to? If they're set to Very High, that's why.

I am running it complete maxed out on HD 4850 4gb of ram and Q6600 and it takes for ever to load. So I guess like he said it must be the texture quality.

Well, I got it in Very High, and I just did what you said but the problem still occurs.

I have the same issue, but it's only the first time I load a game. It takes awhile, but after that I can switch servers and it will load much quicker. I believe a lot of people have this issue. You just have to be patient.

His video card can handle TF2 maxed easily!

Try de-fragmenting with defraggler or something.

I don't think that affects the loading of textures.I agree that it is just the game, it does take ages for me, a lot longer than L4D

I have basically the same system as you raze and it does have long load times. Its not something defragmenting is going to help. If you are on a custom server where it is downloading the maps that can take quite a bit longer. Also try to find low latency servers. Other that though it usually takes me a minute or two to load a server.
