So I have around £15 I can spare fo a good online shooter. I want Cod4 but better more realistic and slower. Ideally I would want Socom. Yes I know that third person but hey. I know I'm askin for a lot with a budget price but Valve's mod are both ment to be pretty good I'm just wondering which is better value. I dont care much for Half Life tbh. So the orange box or CS:s with Gmod? My HF2 experience is form the orange box xbox 360 so unless its a helluva lot better on the pc I'm only interested in the online gaming.

Orange Box/TF2 is incredible value. I would recommend it over CS Source. CS source is a good game to play once in a while, but for some reason I keep coming back to TF2.

Definitely OB and having GMOD with just CS:S is not a good choice. OB+GMOD is perfect because you get content from HL2+Ep1+Ep2+TF2 it even uses content from Portal iirc, now compare all the content from those games with CS:S which most of its content can be downloaded from the GMOD website (maps, weapons, character models).

Joke? But CSS is the better game, I dun like TF2, maybe cause CSS takes skills lol. CSS is much more of a skill game than tf2. Oh and owning nubs and saying "pz" or "scrub" never gets old :D

Actually if you want realism, I recommend Red Orchestra. With it you get two free mods that Steam supports. It is a very realistic shooter and extremely fun. It takes some time to get into, but it is well worth it.

If I had to choose between Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike Source, I would pick Team Fortress 2. The community is more active and there is more gameplay to be found now.

Just speaking stats from steam. http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ CS:Source still has more active players then team fortress 2.

Personally though, you would probably enjoy team fortress 2 more.

No it's not a joke. How come whenever someone says "realism" on this board, they automatically conjure up something like Arma2? I'm talking about being realistic in the setting. Also no re-spawning. Compared to TF2 CS:S is extremely realistic.

Counter Strike has round re-spawn. Once you're killed, you're down for the count, until the next round. That's one of the many reasons I love that game. If you liked L4D you may want to check out Killing Floor.

same

ive been playing CS since the betas way back in 1999, but I also played Team Fortress Classic.

Theyre both awesome games in their most recent reincarnations (CS:S and TF2), but I keep coming back to TF2. Its just so much...FUN! CS:S is fun, but its also incredibly frustrating lol.

I enjoyed a game called combat arms it was free but the game was pretty fun. If counterstrike is like that but with delayed respawn it sounds fun.

So no re-spawn makes it realistic? Counter Strike is NO WHERE NEAR realistic.

And if you want a Mordren set FPS that is realistic, then I reccommend Americas Army 3. It's has a few bugs, but its a free game.

exactly.

If CoD is arcade

And ArmA 2 is realistic

then CS is somewhere in between those two; its easy enough to pick up and play, yet it incorporates many realistic things extremely well such as bullet-vs-armor behavior, recoil, and damage, among other things.

thats part of the whole r eason I enjoy it; its realistic enough to be challenging, yet casual enough to not have a steep learning curve.

TF2 is a much better game than Counter-Strike. So if you're looking for replay value, fun, and a game that will have you coming back again and again it is most definitely TF2. I've played CS for a long time, so I know what I'm talking about.

Counter Strike Source is better than TF2, but if you are interested in the single player of HL2, then i suggest the orange box. Basically, if you don't care about the single player games then get CSS. If you think you might get some use out of the single player games then i suggest the orange box.

TF2 requires more skill than CS:S. You don't get owned by people who suck, unless you actually suck yourself (no homo or unless it's luck, which also happens in CS:S.

TF2 man. Its good in so many ways. Deep classes. Deep strategy and really fun and addicting gameplay. Id recommend it any day. I loved it so much I got it for a friend when it was on sale just cuz I think its worth buying. They're always updating and making the game better. Its the essence of good game making. CSS can be good too, I own it, but I can never play for long. I missed that train. I never got into it in time and I never got really good. I cant recommend it only because I didnt have as much fun with it.

Teamwork is what makes games like TF2 so great, but I guess that is beyond your comprehension.

TF2 offers more variety while CSS offers zombie escape, with maps like Helms Deep and the Death Star. I would flip a coin.

CS and CS Source communities just serve to piss me off.. 2/3 of the server list is playing dust2 at any given time. There were so many good CS maps that I've simply forgotten the name of since they weren't played.. or they're not in tournament rotation or something :| It's still the better game if you want a competitive platform, but just for fun and variety, TF2 wins easy.

Pretty much. No-one plays piranesi or de_dust for crying out loud. Let alone the train station and plane ones (which are by far the most fun). It's not 2/3 that play de_dust 2, more like 99/100. The other 1/100 is office.
