techies! help! gamer on a budget

i don't know much about pcs. i bought a della year ago with a ati x600.. so i was hurtin when i couldn't run the games i wanted. so now i wanna buy a new video card. will this card work on my pc with 350watt psu, 1gig ram, 2.8 intel D? what kind of games can i play with this?

You can get max settings in HL2 and CS:S @ 1280x1024 with a 8600GT.

8600GT is the best card that can run on POS PSU's like yours.
