No games can use 6 cores effectively, and 4 cores are not very optimized either. Unless you will be encoding 1080p x264 blu-ray rips for a four-core 965, the other will not give you any speed in games.

OK, now what OS should I get, I have heard that some people don't like Windows 7 and I have heard Mac doesn't break as easily, I know that Windows will offer more games but I don't want to be nagged at 24/7, what do you think I should get?
GTX 480 will not fit in a mid tower case, you need a fulltower. Get corsair power supply instead they are more stable. Remove hdd fans, ram fans Then your good to goI am building my first PC and I want to know if these parts will work, so here are my specs right now, can you tell me what I might what to add or what I need to make this computer work, I want this to be a really good gaming computer that can play all the latest games at the highest quality.

Aren't full cases like server sized?
Agreed!Windows 7 Home Premium x64 OEM. Use Microsoft Security Essentials for a free antivirus.

Slow scan times and rather bloated. You see Microsoft and then you think its rubbish, right?

Hmm not really because windows 7 is great, i dont hate all microsoft products lol. Slow scan times? check any major reviewer avast is brilliant and doesn't even use 5% of my processor while scanning, I dont think its bloated and it also is one of the best at virus signature updatesWell a 480 can play Crysis alright completely maxed @ 1080p. It's average framerate is around the low 30s (where you can't notice any lag)
hitman6actual
Nope, my GTX 480 plays Crysis at mid 40s and when overclocked it averages around 50s and that is using two mods, Reli and Xtreme Particles Mods.
Mobo's got one built in. You also don't need those fans, but other than that things look good. Have fun building.[QUOTE="hitman6actual"][QUOTE="metroidprime55"]
Why don't I need a sound card?

Another thing I'm curious about is that if my CPU is powerful enough to play a game like Fallout 3. It's just that 2.93GHz seems kind of low.
it is perfectly capable.Yes. Go look at or run some benchies. If the FPS is 30 and it drops there goes your full motion video. 40 maintains smoothness. And 630w at load?

Hmm, well I haven't seen anything this high but who knows, the drivers could of made a difference, being that new ones are out I think, for Nvidia. How big will your monitor be? because in pc gaming, framerate matters on how big your screen is in order to have a good optimal performance.
GTX480 ain't worth it . Get GTX460 SLI , or GTX470 in SLI . The GTX460 in SLI costs less than a single GTX480 , they consume less power and produce less heat . And on top of that , they are faster by 10-15% ( and more in some ) in games .
Also , i don't understand why you need 8GB of RAM , when not a single game on the market won't use more than 3 or 4 . Also , i suggest on getting the CM HAF-X .
This isn't true in the least. Resolution has much more of an effect on your framrates over your screen size. But more than likely he/she won't be playing @ over 1080p, which isn't that big at all for the GPUs he/she is considering. How big will your monitor be? because in pc gaming, framerate matters on how big your screen is in order to have a good optimal performance.
