OK, I've heard all the reasons why being able to hurt your team mates would ruin TF2, and I agree for the most part.

But here's a new take:
The person doing the firing, takes the damage. i.e, if you shoot and hit a teammate, the damage it would have done is incurred upon oneself, instead.

If a Pyro wants to Spycheck someone, they have to be willing to risk their own HP to do so. That way, they'll use more discretion when spychecking, and the rest of the team doesn't suffer. No risk of **** TKers, no problems with Heavies and Pyros mowing down their own team.

Thoughts?

PS. Yes, I play as Spy most often, and this is the main impotus for my post, but its not too much to ask is it? Esp considering the Pyro Pack's massive powerups...

FF was in TF2 originally and it just didn't work. The game is too chaotic.

It wouldn't work, Engineers would kill theirselves regularly if people blocked them. Just about every class would kill themselves.

Wouldn't work really. Just imagine for the Pyro rushing into a cluster**** of people and spraying. He would immensly weaken himself after accidentally hitting his team mates. Look at the demoman. Can you image him being a little trigger happy on the stickies and suddenly kill himself if he detonated on the wrong guy? Same goes with the soldier for his splash damage and the heavy for his low accuracy.

In the end, you would have a ton of people killing themselves and it would suck the fun out of the game.

I played on a server with friendly fire and it wasn't that bad, but I accidently killed some teammates before the game began since I didn't know FF was on.

Think of pyros...You wouldn't be able to check for Spys and it that would just lead to chaos.

Actually, you just need to run at people to know if theyre a spy. If he blocks you, he's a spy. Thats the way I often check people.

TF2 is way too hectic for friendly fire. The experience would be ruined, really.

I agree that it wouldn't work. TF2 is far too hectic for this. Also, many of the maps force teammates to be very close, and there would be too many self-inflicted deaths because of this. Not to mention that spys would become way overpowered due to people being afraid to spy-check. And walking through people to check would be too inconvenient, as you would have to chase someone down and hope they stop moving just to find out if they are a spy. FF really works better in tactical shooters, not arcadelike shooters.

I played on a friendly fire server the other day and it was so chaotic. There where almost as many team kills as enemy kills.

pyro cant fire teammates with friendlyfire ON! and u talkin about spies.. for kill with spy u have to make few strange moves, u always discover a spy in ur base or, and we usually play like this, u wait for the first stab (always front weird teammates in base) and overpower the spy with ur weapons cause without shock-surprise spy cant do more damage than other chars

The spy would be way too powerful, and the chaos in TF2 would mean alot more deaths. FF in TF2 = FAIL.
