Do i have to pay for steam service.

Do i have to pay to play TF2 everymonth like WOW.

Do ppl cheat hack while playing TF2.

Will steam always keep on running even when am not playing game.

What r achievements.

I know these r noob question but planning to buy TF2.

1.the steam servive is free to use

2.once u buy the game u never have to pay again

3.hacking is not a problem and ist quite rare u get the occasinoal exploiter here and there but vavle is quick to patchthat up

4.steam will continue running in ur background until u shut it off. it will not forcefully run in background if u dont want it to.

5.achievements are awards u get for doing certian things like eating a 100 sandviches or getting 10000 heal points in a single life.

3. Of course they do, but most servers are VAC-secured, so cheaters get banzored.

4. Yes, but you can turn it off.

5. Acheivements are just like in any other game, or on XBL or whatever - completing tasks and milestones completes set acheivements, which unlock new weapons.

If it does transfer data, it's negligible, and only to maintain your connection with the Steam servers. It would be about as internet-hungry as IM or IRC software, I'd think. But there's really no need to have Steam running when you're not playing a Steam-based game.

Recent Valve games have achievements that serve no actual purpose, they're just in there - the games are being developed for the 360 as well as the PC, and since they are putting the achievements in anyway for the 360 version, why not keep them in the PC version too?

But there is one exception - Team Fortress 2's achievements are split down into the different cIasses in the game, and you can unlock extra weapons by achieving cIass-specific achievements. It's like the first person shooter equivalent of leveling up in a roleplaying game. I believe several other recent multiplayer shooters have a similar thing - Call of Duty 4 and perhaps Battlefeild 2142.

no, you just have to buy the game once, but i guarantee you that you'll be playing this game every frigging day, cuz it's just that good.

i'm sure people do, but the servers are vac-secured, meaning that as long as you go to those servers, there probably won't be cheaters.

steam is a program; you can close it anytime you want.

think of them as medals or gold stars that you get when doing certain things (like killing x number of people, etc.).
