Thinking of getting TF2 and was wonderin if i bought it retail by it self NOT ON Steam how many mb of updates would of i have to download before i was able to play online.

Thanks

Shadowhawk000
You can't play TF2 "not on Steam" - I downloaded it again a couple days ago and I dl 7.6 gb. I'm not sure how much of that data is on the retail disc, but if I recall, it isn't a lot.

Why? The updates add in all kinds of things like new weapons, new taunts, new audio, new maps (close to a dozen, I think), and new game modes.

Just install the game and let it update overnight.

Well don't know for sure, but when I installed it from the disc, it had around 4.5 gb, now it has 7.4 gb, and if you take away all the custom maps, it has around 6.2 gb, so about 1.7 gb to download.

Haha.. looks like I'll have to wait just like you. Even with a terribly slow internet if you leave it over night or when you're out it should be done quick. Or play some offline game while it downloads.. good things come to those that wait =P

If that's the only thing keeping you from playing TF2, maybe you just don't enjoy great games...

yes, when I was building my new comp in march, I did that with the steam folder to save some time and it worked.
