Simultaneous Launch
Cause I hate waiting for the PC to come out months after consoles...
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I didn't even realise there was any concern about the PC version being released at the same time as the console versions ? Mass Effect 2 saw a simultaneous release on the 360/PC so I don't see why it would be any different for Mass Effect 3 but always nice to get confirmation I guess.

Why are you thanking ME 3? You should be thanking Bioware and EA. They deserve the thanks, its not like their just doing it to make money. You should also thank them for the price hike on a game that probably wont be any more technologically advanced than ME 2. I finally played ME 2 last month and couldnt beleive they still didnt fix the awful mouse acceleration.
Yup.. *cough AC:brotherhood *cough Fable 3 cough*Elann2008Ubisoft are jerkwads. They didn't delay Ruse, now did they. Because the only copies sold of that game were on PC, consoles are a dead end for RTS.

Hm wasn't aware of that, but yeah it was a simultaneous release on Xbox and PC for the US and Europe at least. Not sure why it wasn't a simultaneous release in Australia, are you 100% sure there was a delay between the xbox and PC version release ? It's just I am not seeing anything that points to that. Not that it matters now really, nothing wrong with having confirmation about things. I was just curious why you were worried it might not happen.
The only thing that annoys me is this insistance by publishers to have staggered release dates for regions. I mean seriously do they really need to release it 3 days before everyone else in the US ? Especially on the PC when you consider most will be getting it digitally and digital distribution makes regions redundant.

LOL if nobody buys games at release, developers won't even make a GOTY edition for you to buy. We're not suckers; you may have more patience than us but we're really excited for games that we can't wait to play them asap.
Besides, do you really want to put games in your backlog with so many awesome releases in 2011?

Oh, it's just that I really hate that most titles take a month or two for them to come out on PC after consoles, that's why I like these simultaneous releases... its not really most, its just a few. Mostly games that the pc crowd isnt in love with, or microsoft maybe sweetened the deal a bit. Then theres a couple that get delayed so nvidia can add some physyx or something of that nature, no big deal.Maybe I'm wrong... to me it feels like a game comes out on consoles, and then the waiting game begins for it to come out on PC... (even if it's only a few weeks later, either for piracy concerns or Nvidia adding something or whatever). EVERY game should have the same date launch on PC than on consoles... my two cents anyway...

If nobody bought the game at release, then there would have been no revenue to drive the developer to engineer patches and new content.

I'm not telling anyone to not buy games at release. Just saying its not the smartest thing you could do. If everyone stopped buying games at release the first thing the publishers and devs would do to stay in business would be to, gasp.........wait for it.............release games bug free.I can't wait for Mass Effect 3. I hadn't played either of the Mass Effect games at all until about a month ago. I played through both, and have started a totally renegade character in ME so I can import that to ME2 as well. I think these are some of the best games of all time. Of course, I am a huge sci-fi fan, and therefore predisposed to liking them.
I'm glad that they are releasing ME3 for PC on the same date as the console versions, it makes me feel cared about :P. That is, unless it means that we'll be getting a crappy port job. When that happens it's not cool.
I'll buy ME3 very soon after release unless it has major issues, but you can be sure that I won't be paying $60 for it. I've found that Amazon.com usually has new games for well below the MSRP. Sometimes a $60 game will be $45 or less, and you pay no tax or shipping.
gasp.........wait for it.............release games bug free.

That's a pipe dream.:P
Developers only have a certain amount of game testers, and they don't see as much as the gamers do.
We are the ones who catch what they missed - if we adopted your take, games would never be patched.
We already have bad apples like Activision. They totally abandoned Prototype, and deleted the thread where people were posting the technical problems.
To this date there has not been a single patch for Prototype.

So all those bugs that were in FO Vegas for instance werent noticed before release? You really believe that? Of course some very minor bugs could slip through but its obvious the devs rely on the whole patch later thing to be able to release games earlier. A very tiny percentage of gamers are reading what I say here , so even if I did convince every person who reads this thread it wouldnt make much difference at all. I dont understand why you even brought up the whole "if everyone stopped buying games at release" scenario to begin with, with that in mind.[QUOTE="Cranler"]

You want Shepard looking like an alien when you import him? If it uses a new engine, there would be no "proper" way to import an old engine Shepard without him looking weird. The engine looks pretty good except for the occasional muddy texture if you ask me.
And I cannot believe some of you are suggesting pirating PC games. It's people like you that give PC gamers a bad name.

Youre dodging the question or just dont understand it. Hes asking why the price would go up when its on the same engine not why are they using the same engine. The character import issue would be an insignificant reason compared to all the other reasons for not using a new engine.
