[QUOTE="Kh1ndjal"] i dont think that's an accurate comparison. when someone listens to your music, their enjoyment does not depend on the latency or the number of people on the same server. but in multiplayer-centric games ($60 for a singleplayer game whose length is that of which is expected from a cod is insane), things like community and latency and server population do seem to matter a whole lot.dbpvivi
no i mean i agree with you completely, its just, i have the other view as well, so its why im kinda not really against the game, but im only gonna get it if i think it would be a good game, latency issues included, and smoothness.. ill file all that under game performance (not engine performance) but that is included as well.
im fully aware of why gamers are angry with the dedicated servers issue, i understand why as well, and im not against you either. part of me wants to do the same as you guys, (been gaming over 22 years).
its just if it doesnt have latency issues (despite no dedicated servers)
and good maps, dlc, good community and decent support....
if this is infact the case when its all said and done, then there is nothign i can hold against it (personally) it will be just another variation of gameplay for me amongst the many other games i have. and will have.
"its just if it doesnt have latency issues (despite no dedicated servers)"
Won't happen. Not on PC unless you happen to be playing with someone with 12mb broadband +. Im running "8mb" with BT and i know p2p gets throttled resulting in poor ping. Lots of isp's do this not just BT so to manage bandwidth throughout the exchanges.
Not to mention the Host advantage.
And then there are all the hidden things like:
Why can't we have 32 player support or even 24?
Will we get to choose which map we wan't to play on?
Can this game be played again in 12 months?
Do I have to install anything special to run IW.net? Another running process I have to manage?
What else does this thing do? Does it collect player data? Browsing habbits? Am I being used for data or monitored?
If DLC comes out for example a skin pack. Will I need it to play on some servers? I could technically be forced into buying the stuff.
again i completely agree with you, worked dsl tech support, and installed cable internet.. i dont think its gonna happen either, but to think/believe in something absolutely100% isnt that smart. but i agree completely, i highly doubt that it will have great latency without dedicated servers... and host advantage lol yeah i remember how bad Gears of war was on 360 with that, a few others as well.
. but nothing is 100%, just saying.. it isnt out yet. i understand this is all about profit, believe me i see how the monetary system effects the world... but hey.. the end product may be a good 15-20 dollar buy for me to have for a decent single player, and a whatever it may be mp, thats if i think the game is worthy of my buy, which i dont know if it will be...
. i know a few weeks ago i really really wanted it, but after the news, its not a buy for me, its a try, then if i like buy... and i think most people should look at it that way, but im with you on the petition. send me the link to it, and ill sign it, after i read it... but just to let you know, if after launch if i think it ever meets my price/worth ratio, ill prolly be buying it.
