This type of game is so not my cup of tea. I'm a battlefield player,a CnC player, a racer. I use guns and artillery and yet here I am so freaking addicted to slaying Dark Spawn with my Enchanted Sword and fire Arrows. I freaking love this game. I haven't been as addicted to a game like this since Fallout 3. I didn't even know if I would like fallout 3 but I love it. I'm not into all the dialoge and figureing out abilities and points andstuff. Then what really turns me off in video games is potions and wizards and magic. Yet as I play through this game all is becoming so strategic and fun. I'm drawn into the story and the atmosphere. I love looking around and exploring trying to find that better weapon or armor that will balance out my skills and strategies. Finding that next clue as to where i'm headed next and finding that next party memeber that can bring more skills to the table and balance out my party.

This game is freaking awesome. I've put in a good 15-20 hours so far and i've hardly even gotten started. Anyone interested in this game and not sure. I say it's worth trying. If your anything like me when it comes to gaming preferences then you owe it to yourself to at least try it because i'm very glad I did. Thanks again to those of you that kept refering it to me. Now I have to finish my next 8 hours of work before I can go home and find out what happens next!

AAAWWWWWHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is it 4pm yet

P.S. - What other games are there that are like this one. I know i don't like FF that is the g$*est stuff out there and I don't like the turn based combat at all.

I'd say The Witcher. And maybe, just maybe, Oblivion too.

I played oblivion for like 5 or 10 hours and just couldn't get into it but maybe I can give it another shot. The Witcher 2 looks sick.

RPGs can offer a lot, welcome to the world of WRPGs.

Oblivion is open-ended, the best way to enjoy it is with mods, but it takes a lot of work and dedication to make them function (load-ordering them).

The Witcher EE is a great RPG. A great many here (along with myself) would recommend Mass Effect 1 & 2, but it's a different style of WRPG.

mass effect 2 has much tighter gunplay, they removed alot of the rpg elements but it works better.

I also recommend the Witcher and is imo better from Dragon age. I much prefered witcher 1 character instead Dragon age that you must control 4 characters. Story wise and the fighting system are also imo better on the Witcher. Overall both are great games but the witcher is 1 step better

You can try out Jade Empire and KOTOR. Both are solid games and similar to Dragon Age.

I also didn't like Oblivion when I first played it. The key with Obliviion is you need to download mods that fix a lot of the problems with the game like the leveling system. There 1000s of mods to choose from and it can be a bit overwelming at first. But, once you get the right combination of mods to suit your taste the game is really good.

I didn't like the Witcher so I won't recommend it. Not sure about the sequal, it could be good. I didn't like ME1 either but, I love ME2. I would also recommend ME2. Story is very good and the combat is very similar to Gears of War.

I second this. However if you want alot of customization and exploration and quests to be solved fast, then i would say no.

When I finished DA: O, I was desperate to continue the awesomeness that was DA. So, I followed the hype and bought the Witcher Director's Cut off of Steam. Let me tell you that I'm glad I only dropped around 13 beans on it because I could not get into it AT ALL. I forced myself to play into the 4th Act and just couldn't take it any longer. I doubt I'll ever finish it.

So, in summary, I'll second the notion that The Witcher is not special. At all.

No, you don't have to control four characters.

You can choose to leave your Party Camp with only two characters. I haven't tried leaving camp alone yet.:P:lol:

Same here..at first, anyway.

It doesn't give a very good first impression, in my opinion (mostly because the combat is terrible; I couldn't get used to it as a big FPS player myself.) I dropped it after a couple hours. However, I went back to it after probably 6-8 months, stuck with it for a while, and ended up loving it. Great game, though thesecond one in the franchise is much, much better (dialog/characters are more interesting, and the combat is worlds better.)
