Does anyone know if there is going to be a new lineup of alienware laptops or is a good idea to invest on one of those laptops right now?

Investing implies that it will increase in value, yet it will actually do exactly the opposite.

Honestly, I would get an A8 laptop. about 500-600 dollars, great power usage and games very well, anything else doesn't really make sense.

well obviously I meant purchase. By invest I meant as in the long run will it be worth it or should I just hold off?

Probably no refresh until Ivy Bridge and that's a ways off. And after Ivy Bridge comes out you'd be tempted to wait for the new 28nm GPUs. So I'd just look for a good deal and buy one soon because there's always going to be something newer and better coming out.

I've encountered very few people that have purchased alienware laptops that were pleased with it a year down the road.

As far as laptops go which can't be modified too much after purchase, I'd give a thumbs up to Alienware. Granted you must have the cash to spend and not complain about it. After all you're getting a lappy! I'm still using my Alienware after almost 4 years. Here's the stats: T7400 @ 2.16ghz 3 gigs ram ddr2 mobo m9750 Geforce M8700 512mb Not bad for 4 yrs old! :D

I thought Alienware had a very bad reputation on here to the pricing model being akin to Apple's i.e. provide good hardware, then charge double after slapping your brand on it.

Nah, alienware laptops are okay priced, I mean you can do better with like Clevo based, but they are not rip offs.

Wait a few months and get a high end APU laptop, it'll be pretty good at gaming and the battery will last longer, plus it doesn't have the overpriced Alienware brand stamped onto it. Asus should be of much better quality and far cheaper option for a decent performing laptop. Note though i'm counting battery life as a big performance counter.
