Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.;)

~Best~

  • Team Fortress 2 - the voice goes along very well with the chars.
  • Company of Heroes - need I say more? Rangers are my fav.
  • World in Conflict - Particularly the Soviet Union side...for some reason makes you fight harder for the motherland.

~Worse~

  • Crysis Wars - Koreans trying to speak English with the stereotypical accent. Com'on really? I was almost insulted and I'm not even Korean.
  • Guild Wars - Shiro speaking English (if you play GW...then you know what I mean)
  • Ghost Recon 2 - That debriefing guy in the helo for some reason pisses me off with his annoying voice. To make it worse, you can not turn off his voice separately and he will also cut in your game to remind you of your goals.

The voice acting in Men of War is horrible. Still a very good game though.

Dunno about best, but if you want bad, try Arma2. It's REALLY bad. Not just the acting, the dialogue too. It's very badly written.

Oblivions was pretty funny. Halt criminal scum guy, the woman, the high pich guy, and the black guy seemed to populate every single character.

Whenever I play that game, if I hit auto assign for team selection, I always am put into the Korean team. I don't think anyone can stand that voice shouting every five seconds. And of course, there's no way to turn it off.

As far as worst, there have been some that have far worse, but Altair in AC was just so horribly forced and fake. It was a pretty great game, and it deserved someone better.

I'm not really sure on what the best voice acting would be, but it's easy to comment on some of the worst. (I suppose that Anachronox had some good delivery on some of the more memorable lines, though, and Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters is great all-around...with one MAJOR exception.) -Crysis' Koreans sounded terrible in English. Nomad himself also has some dubious lines, most notably when going through the alien core in the mountain for the first time. -TESIV: Oblivion has all those re-used voices and people striking up random conversations that sound extremely scripted and not very relevant at all. -Star Control II's Utwig race. Sure, they have some of the best supporting ships in the game, but god DAMN, that emo kid voice of theirs will make your ears bleed! (The fact that much of their dialogue is going emo over their broken Ultron doesn't help one bit.) Then again, I'm not sure if that falls under truly bad voice acting quality, as it could very well be that they were intentionally going for that "angsty emo kid" voice and managed to pull it off very well. However, most of the games I have in mind aren't PC games. -Metal Wolf Chaos has So Bad It's Good voice acting-partially the delivery, but mostly the sheer corniness of the dialogue itself. Then again, this is a Japanese game where the President of the United States pilots a mech to stop an army from taking over and sucking all the freedom out of America-all led by the Vice President of the United States in a mech, no less. It's part of the appeal. -Last Alert, on the other hand, is just plain So Bad It's Horrible...okay, I take that back, there could be enough unintentional humor in the truly awful voice acting to elevate it to So Bad It's Good. Maybe. -Final Zone II, was it? This also falls into So Bad It's Horrible. "Let me show them some fancy action now!" (And then there's that one conversation that I can't describe without using censored words.)

I just finished playing Dreamfall: The Longest Journey a few days ago and it is one of the best adventure games I have played and thats a small bracket. The voice acting in that game is absolutely superb from all of the characters. Top notch.

Oblivion was terrible, the beggars changed their voices when you asked about rumors. and the only good parts of it were shivering isles. the only way I could handle it was to not look at the faces

Everyone pretty much named the best/worst I would have mentioned. I'm sure there's more in each category but can't think of any. However, I did want to mention the female voice (advisor) n Empire: Total War. She does an excellent job and I'd really like to know which actress it is. I think it may be someone famous like Keely Hawes. As for the game it still needs a lot of work.

I thought the voice action in NWN2 was well done.

Why are you all forgetting about Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic I and II? Theres hours of higj quality voice acting in there.

Worst voice acting : All of the Age of Empires.

Honorable Mention (Not PC): Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Starkiller and the pilot woman (forgot her name) have one of the best voice acting I have ever seen.

Best: Fallout 3, Team Fortress 2, Half life2, and Company of heroes. I liked: S.t.a.l.k.e.r., Oblivion despite the beggars voice change which was already mentioned, and Crysis. Worst: Men of War, and Two Worlds.

Holy crap, I can't believe I would forget about Chaos Wars in a thread like this. (Again, not a PC game, but that game is textbook proof of why you hire professional actors instead of your immediate family to provide voiceovers.) ...Wait, why is it that I can only think of infamous console games when it comes to truly horrible voice acting?

Agreed. Even the droids the were funny! As for worst, from recent memory, Last Remnant. The tone was over the top, and for some reason, there were weird awkward pauses between character dialogue. It was rather painful to listen to.

Yeah, KOTOR had some mighty fine voice acting. What was that one cat's name? Carth Onassi? I can still hear the sound of that guy's voice. Gravelly. And kind of frustrated.

One of the best voice actings definitely belong to : KoTOR I, The Witcher, Mass Effect,NWN 2, Half Life 2 + Episodes and all GTA's from 3 above (I loved San Andreas's the most though).

Recently experienced bad voice acting : The Godfather II

topsemag55

I very much agree with you...The voice acting through out Mass Effect was truly amazing ! Though the only complaint I did have with it was on some of the side quests. The woman that kept screaming....... "I will KILL you !" ..............I just couldn't take it, so maybe that aspect in the game could fall under the worst voice acting category. But other than that small con, Mass Effect is at the top of my list.....and just behind it, I would rank Warhammer 40K : Dawn of War, the original in the single player campaign. The Shakespearian delivery in the voice overs was just great !

Best list : Mass Effect, Warhammer 40K Dawn of War, Bioshock, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Psychonauts, Beyond Good & Evil and Oddworld.

Worst List : FryCry (though I didn't find it to be that awful) and C&C 3 (very cheesy)

Best Far Cry 2 LOL? Are you serious...? It is like they walked out on the street and grabbed a couple homeless people to do the voice acting in that game... No emotion, no pauses, no nothing... Everything was run on for them...

theytalkedlikethis.pausedlikethis.showednoemotionlikethis.

Half the time I couldn't even understand what they were saying and had to use the subtitles because they used no pauses and so it sounded like they were combining words...

How can anyone vote HL2 as best voices? It's pathetic. They've got one guy who sounds like he's missing a testacle doing every single voice for the non-named characters and he sucks at it.

Are you serious? There are several voice actors for the standard NPCs, and they do a great job. Yet the thing that makes HL2's voice acting a cut above the rest is the voices of the G-Man, Alyx, Barney, Eli and the other main characters. They're brilliant.

Half Life 2 has won AWARDS for its voice acting. The last scene from Ep. 2? That was great voice acting. Every single scene involving G-Man? That was great voice acting. ArmA is up there with the worst for me, but its almost understandable considering how small Bohemia Interactive is. I love the game too much to care, anyways.

Tad Unfair on Crysis TC, if you play on Veteran the Koreans speak Korean. So i do not think Crysis deserves that perhaps some of Nomads lines are questionable mind.

Best:

Dawn of War, has some excellent voice acting. Oh and some bad voice acting! lol

Valkyria Chronicals has some great voice acting

Neverwinter Nights 2

Fallout 3, considering its scope and size was great as well.

Worse:

Resident Evil 1

Any Tomb Raider

Oblivion : Sometimes great other times Bad

Didn't the main character from Bioshock have a couple of lines at the start of the game?

Also, Mercenaries 2 had horrible voice acting.
