Why can't I walk into a gamestop store and buy a game? well its because

A.They dont have it

B.They don't SELL PC games!

I hate this they expect you to go online and DOWNLOAD the games

Id rather have it retail cause it installs 10 x faster and not to mention its safer

Walmat, best buy, target still sell PC games but not enough if you ask me

does any one agree?

The Gamestop near me does not sell PC games either, but there's one a little farther away that does. Plus, Best Buy has all the new games...I think.

That is the way console gaming will go one day, too. First it's the high street, then it's internet retail, then it's digital distrubtion. This is the way gaming is going. Get used to it.

I buy almost all my games internet retail.

I agree with you completely, I have a prehistoric bandwidth, and peple always tell me to use steam, and it' a real pain in the ass to wait weeks for a game, when I could have a retail box.

the big coperate companies are trying to force pc games out of the market. Pc games has always been the best place for games. Sony and microsoft pay people to lie or not to sell pc games. However there is alot pc stores that sell pc games.

Which services do you use and how are they with releasing patches? I'm always afraid to buy a brand new game via Steam because I've heard that they're slow with patches. Is that true?

Sorry, by internet retail I meant I buy the games boxed from online stores - as opposed to digital distrubtion. He was saying PC gaming is doomed or whatever because he can't buy boxed games, but he also thinks digital distrubtion is a high risk venture, so I was explaining to him that he can still buy boxed games with no risk - or almost no risk - buy buying online, from places like Amazon.

I gather from threads I've read around here that most American shops that no longer stock PC games in the store still sell them on their site - which is a pretty clear indication of how most PC gamers are buying their games these days.

I don't think you can make a determination like that from what's on Gamespot's shelves. Gamespot has always had way more console games then pc games. To be honest who still buys pc games in a brick and mortar store anyway? It's been years since I bought any game in an actual store. You can always find what you want online and almost always for a much better price. Gamespot's always trying to sell you a magazine subscription or some other junk like that when you shop there anyway.

The one near me sells PC games, or at least older ones. Anyway digital distribution is the future. And what's dangerous about downloading a game? Target and Best Buy have a decent amount of PC games and have newer games too.

Just like the music business is in shambles. Don't call an uncertain future a bleak future. It's just that times are changing...I for one see a real return to smaller, more innovative and interesting projects in both the music and game industry.

The best bet is to order them online. Retail stores don't stock up on PC games because they usually end up in the clearance bin for some reason. The Gamestop in my area stopped stocking PC games and I live in New York City.

people hesitating to download games via steam or anywhere else reminds me of the time when cd-roms were starting to appear 15 years ago or so. people were skeptical about cd-roms back then and some believed that it was just a fad or something. look how it thrived since. downloading games is the future of pc gaming; embrace it, people.fireandcloud

Here in the UK its pretty good. I have picked some of the latest games from supermarkets. And most of the main game shops have them well stocked. Failing that game.com or play.com are a good way to get the games you want. I preordered assassins creed off game, and i got it this morning.

The 2 places where I buy my PC games are 1. Amazon.com Low prices and HUGE HUGE library of games because its linked to thousands of websites that sell both new and old games, unlike f*ggot video game store GameStop which only sells the "hottest" modern games.. Last month I bought Quake III Arena for 10 bucks off Amazon.com. It's one the greatest PC games of all time and it came out in 1999. You can buy them new or used for even LESS. 2. Steam Dont listen to people who say it's a slow downloader/patcher. Last night I BOUGHT/DOWNLOADED/INSTALLED Team Fortress 2 off of Steam..................in just 2 hours. All I had to do was click "Purchase", and take a sh*t, shower, watch TV.......came back it was ready fro me to play. Seriously, its faster than you think.

Wouldn't this whole thing be the other way round. Buying PC games off the internet is good.

Think about the amount of stuff people buy off the internet (that goes for anything). That market is booming, people are now buying there food of the internet ffs.

People will begin to realize that to by a game, any game, of the internet is much more efficiant then from street retailers. They then will also see that to buy a pc game of the internet is much better and faster as it goes directly onto your comp.

Its the consoles that will lose out now. Yes, you can still buy a console game off the internet, but its the pc game market that will flourish as you order the damn thing with your computer anyway.

I think you need to go back to school. 263 million is larger than 120 million. Add in all the Xbox 360s, all the PS3s, all the Wiis, all the Xboxes and all the Gamecubes and it's still not 263 million. Not even close.

In fact, you would need to double the current number of PS3s, 360s and Wiis sold for that figure to hit 263 million. PC gaming fails? Instead of vague and wrong one liners based on your own personal feelings, how about some damn evidence for once?

You're asking questions instead of answering them.

And calling the PC lowly is like calling business cIass flight lowly. It's more expensive, it's not as popular, and it's a hell of a lot better. You pay more, you get more. Fewer people can afford it.

If importance to you is measured by popularity then you must be a very, very shallow individual, with a narrowminded, stilted and unrealistic view of the world - and no grasp of the market economy at even a basic level.

Recent food for thought:

"Consoles as We Know Them are Gone"

The PC renaissance is on its way

PC will rise in the next few years

Consoles to "die out" in the next 5 to 10 years

No need to wait for consoles to die...AWESOME and plentiful games on the PC last year and coming this year!! :D

Those games aren't the end-all-be-all this year, there are many, MANY other games I'm looking forward to on my PC.

In regards to a few of those though:

We'll probably see GTA 4 on the PC. In fact, I'm waiting for it instead of getting it for the PS3 http://www.digitalbattle.com/2008/01/25/gta-4-pc-this-october/

Haze PC? http://www.gogamer.com/Haze-Front-Page_stcVVproductId42080314VVcatId444710VVviewprod.htm

Gears was ported to the PC, and looked better on my PC than the 360. We'll probably see an enhanced version on the PC. Regardless, Gears 1 was OK fun, but overrated.

I'm not really anti-console by the way, I have a PS3 and Wii + 58" 1080p HDTV (not like I'm missing out). It's just the PC is superior, what can I say ;) I don't care what system you want to game on bro, but PC does rock!
