Those games aren't the end-all-be-all this year, there are many, MANY other games I'm looking forward to on my PC.

In regards to a few of those though:

We'll probably see GTA 4 on the PC. In fact, I'm waiting for it instead of getting it for the PS3 http://www.digitalbattle.com/2008/01/25/gta-4-pc-this-october/

Gears was ported to the PC, and looked better on my PC than the 360. We'll probably see an enhanced version on the PC. Regardless, Gears 1 was OK fun, but overrated.

I'm not really anti-console by the way, I have a PS3 and Wii + 58" 1080p HDTV (not like I'm missing out). It's just the PC is superior, what can I say ;) I don't care what system you want to game on bro, but PC does rock!

Not everyone has blu-ray on there computers but all PS3 owners do. + downloading a 50 gig game could take days.

I think PC gaming will be around for a LONG TIME.

I do too... but more and more gaming companies are realising the amount of side profit they make just by not having to print out all the expensive boxes and security crap packed inside them. Although a good portion are paid by ads inside the box... but its still a good amount of coin out of their pocket. The only reason I think that most major gaming companies will put the hard copys on the shelves is because of the curious walker by. The impulse buyer (me). And the people who just cant wait to plop a disk in.

Personally I think before we really hit a major change in how games are purchased, we will see an increase greatly in how we run our online connections. Via cable or dsl most large games right now still take hours apon hours to download just to play. I think once we do that we will also a change in the scale of our games. And how we purchase them. Imagine if a game as large as 20 gigs only took say on par with a gig/min. Impossible you say? I used to say that before cable modems came out- didnt you? Yes lan connections and T1 can come close to this at high expense. But where there is a will there is a way and people only need time and a reason.

Someone said pc gaming only has 5 years left? EXCUSE ME?!?! Are you NUTS! That will only happen when- hmm they dont build console games on pc anymore. The world ends suddenly. Or they ban gaming all-together. haha. cmon now! I mean have you even heard of E-Sports? Its growing so rapidly its sick! Some of the teams get paid insane amounts of money to game on pc for a living. The gaming community as a whole is growing and growing each year.

I can build a gaming pc for twice that of a console now. But at the same time they last me twice as long as well... I dont really see it as more expensive. Yes initially. But I do believe you get a lot more for the money though. Not only that but many people are experiencing a turn of the century so to speak in pc's right now with 64bit operating systems and dx10. Weve barely begun to scrape that iceberg and once the major hurdles are jumped- prices will drop and it will be the norm just like xp and dx9. We have also to expect a good drop in processor pricing as well because of how small we can cut them now. What does this mean? Well processors are made out of a large sheet. The smaller we can cut them the more we can make on one sheet. Thus making it more efficient to produce and sell. Also with video cards now being able to be stacked up someone can purchase a motherboard and complete set up- in a few years maybe become outdated- but then stack on another video card for a couple hundred bucks and be back in the game for a while. A lot of new motherboards are being made so that they can take use of the smaller size processors in the future as well. Upgrading is becoming cheaper through planning.

Yeah handhelds and nintendo are banking on the whiny brats who scream to mommy and daddy for the new toys. But thats all I consider them. Conventional toys are a thing of the past in my eyes. We all know what the real gaming market is. And yes, sadly its true Blizzard makes way too much freakin money. More money then any of the console companies could dream of. *shakes fist*

Oh yeah, and one more laugh at consoles.

I built my pc for 600$ when the regular xbox came out.

The ONLY thing Ive put into it, is a 75$ video card.

I can play COD4 with some pretty respectable graphics.

Can you play COD4 on your xbox? HAHAHA!!! *points finger*

That is why pc gaming will not die. Not even close.

Having to upgrade your PC every other year is not good.

The future of the PC is diminished.

I think you need to go back to school. 263 million is larger than 120 million. Add in all the Xbox 360s, all the PS3s, all the Wiis, all the Xboxes and all the Gamecubes and it's still not 263 million. Not even close.

ALL THE CONSOLES combined make up a much greater market then the lowly PC. How many of those 263 million people play online checkers once in a while at work?

PC's dont outsell all the consoles every year for the simple fact that THEY DONT HAVE TO! If you really want to break it down, take one look at PC HARDWARE sales per year vs your consoles. Now that is your true sales for pc vs console. All your controllers, mem packs, and hd's for your measly console upgrades cant even touch that market.
