That depends entirely on if they were going to buy it originally.. Many of these pirates are in countries where they don't have access to the game sales wise, or the game is entirely too expensive based in their region... Piracy figures can only get you so far in claiming its hurting the industry.. Its a empty figure that you really can't use one way or the other..

Did you see this post lads? This is exactly the kind of BS justification I was talking about.
So if the people weren't going to buy it originally, its OK to steal? Ah ha. Your justification is, the developers wouldn't have gotten their money anyway, so might as well let them play it.
Well you know what? Set up a game studio, spend millions of dollars of your money on developing a game, and then watch people from these countries who were not going to pay for it in the first place, play it for free.
If that is how its going to work, I am not going to buy STALKER Clear Sky. So would it now be OK for me to download and play it? I think not.
Not here to defend either side here mate but do you seriously think that developers spend their own money to make a game???
Ever heard about corporations? We talking about billions here, piracy got nothing to do with companies like EA getting so little money due to missing incomes that they can`t properly develop a game etc...
It is all about PROFIT, they`d do literally anything to maximize profit for the stockholders whom have such fortune you and I probably couldn`t even spend a quarter of it in a lifetime...
No. piracy is one of the mant resons company's like bungie(i know not best example)has the sign contracts like with microsoft to make the games they make.
