What do you think it's going to be? Something is already kinda confirmed, so no HL 2 ep3 or anything. Maybe Crysis 2? What do you think?

Rage is the only first person shooter I'm looking forward to besides the next Half-Life game. And I'm sure BF3 will be amazing for those who are into the BF series. As for the others, they all look pretty god damn lame.
COD: Black Opps = Lame
Crysis 2 = Lame
Bulletstorm = Lame
Medal of Honor = Lame
Also, I will say that the next Deus Ex has my attention. It's early to say what I think about it, though.
Rage could become all the rage. We'll see.

I am so sick of hearing about this game called "Rage"
What is so special about this game? Why are people so excited for this game?
Personally, it looks like borderlands or something.
The next BIG FPS will be CODwhatever, MOH, and BF3, and those are the three main multiplayer FPS, and multiplayer FPS is usually needed to sell really well. Rage will also sell okay, but its focus is on single player, so it will fade away more quickly. FPS that last are multiplayer, period. And TF2 is still the best!

No, he left quite a long time ago, and consequently Id softened up considerably. I've always considered them to be a pretty half-arse developer (I mean, they've been making the same game since Wolf3D), but they are the GODS of deathmatch.here before i say anything *hides behind flame proof shield, bubbles than puts on a fireproof suit*
i think operation flashpoint 3: red river has the potential to be something really special its codemasters so normally their stuff is quality.. its mp competitive free (as of now) but will be much more story driven then the last two. i personnaly think if codemasters hits homer here in the storyline and co-op departments we could very well see the next supreme SP experience.
okay yor welcome to fire away.

It has it's similarities but RAGE will show why PC gaming is so badass. Borderlands was a fun game so even if they are alike in some ways, it can be taken as a compliment, more than anything else.aw ye , brink looks pretty cool , its like tf2 + mirrors edge :)Farkeman...more importantly it looks a bit cyberpunk, which reminds me of Deus Ex 3!!! I swear, if this game lives up to the original's name, I will be euphoric, ecstatic...nothing could quite compare to a true successor to Deus Ex.
[QUOTE="dan_plus_o"]lol @ Valve. You Hating on Valve?? They happen to be my favorite publisher. The next Counter Strike when and if they ever make a new one.

Because it's Id.Just because they made good games in the past doesnt mean that this game will be flawless.
So there is a chance that this game will suck, the best way to avoid disappointment is not to hype a game, at least to the point people are hyping Rage.

I will most likely get Rage, if at all, for PS3 just to avoid the inconveniences of playing it on the PC.

Think of it like quake 4 in gunplay with maps like borderlands and good non repettive missions. Its mostly an fps with driving and not an rpg or open ended game. Plus crazy graphics with good perfomance. I would say thats the exciting thing, a fps with as good gunplay as linear fps.Personally am looking forward to Brink, Battlefield3 & COD:BO
(But am also keeping an eye on Rage & Crysis2) :)

Same for me, Battlefield 3 and COD but I think Rage and Crysis 2 will be a good "pastime" in the meantime...
Crysis 2 or maybe that co op shooter where you can do parkour sort of things, forgot what it's called.

You misunderstand; as I said in my previous post, their reputation consists of groundbreaking 3D technology and having established and refined FPS as a genre, as well as pretty much inventing (and refining) multiplayer deathmatch. However, they've been on something of a low in the past decade mainly because of a lack of innovation on the gameplay side of things (i.e. DOOM 3 + Quake 4 + Enemy Territory), which lately, in my opinion, have not been much more than showcases for their technology (to be sold to other developers.) In all honesty I'm not THAT excited for Rage, despite the fact that they're creating a new 'universe' and trying something different. What excites me is that Id is such an iconic PC developer and it's great to see that they're still here and contributing to the market. The next Half Life? Whenever that's going to be released?
dinuattila
This right here. I'm starting to think that Valve has no idea what they're going to throw into Ep 3, but I hope the long wait is worth it. Perhaps put TF2 and L4D on the back burner?
I'm hoping for Bulletstorm, even though I'll never play it. I just can't abide to see another crappy overhyped innovation vacuum like Crysis 2 or Rage take everyone's PC by storm. >_> But Bulletstorm is high budget enough that gullible twits will buy it and salute a new IP by doing so.
One I'm legitimately looking forward to is Homefront (is it actually an FPS? I don't remember). The screenshots from that had more atmosphere than anything I've seen in a while.

Homefront looks very good. It could be one of the best FPS games ever if done correctly due to its setting. In one of the interviews the developer said that they are taking some nods from HL2 with the way that the player interacts with the characters, and it looks like they are going to try to have similar style of level design too.
Other than that, i think Portal 2 will be the next FPS, if you can call it a FPS.
It could be Crysis 2 but the game seems a little too streamlined at the moment. I'm hoping that's what they're simply showing for good demonstrations rather than the bulk of the product itself. I want some more open-ended combat not scripted affairs.
I also think it could be Battlefield 3. Bad Company 2 has earned some love and apparently people are more excited about the proper sequel.
But I'm putting my money down on Rage. I think it'll be the surprise shooter to beat.
Brink, it is comeing out next year, but it is the most innovation for a fps in a long time.
edinsftw
This.
But in terms of "Big" or "Great" I think it's going to be Battlefield 3. After reading the deal with the development for the PC I'm pretty excited, I think this could be the next great TRUE PC FPS.
