Hopefully: in the next 2 years, successor to Morrowind (not Oblivion)
Realistically: not for 5 years, they are making an MMO now (unannounced) with rumors that it will be a TES MMO, after the MMO they will probably making TES V in Skyrim (rumors again)
edit: in other words, nobody knows, but I have heard those rumors multiple times (likely from the same source)
It probably won't be for awhile. There are also rumors of the next game being an MMO.millerlight89
If anyone is going to make a TES MMO it'd be ZeniMax online studios. Bethesda only makes singleplayer games.
Bethesda is always sneaky with how they announce their games but TESV might not be released for a while.
OK I will admit I am a bit confused here and I haven't really been following the Fallout franchise closely, but isn't the next Fallout going to be "Fallout : New Vegas" or something ?
[QUOTE="dakan45"]More like fallout 4 in 3-4 years. Todd Howard said dont expect the next TES any time soon.rmfd341FO4 will be announced in 2011 or something... If they fix the combat, I would actually like a new oblivion. I am amazed that so many people found the combat bad? Godamn it, its an rpg people, its meant to shoot so many times and not being able to do headshots with pistols and such. If they "fix" the combat it wil no longer be rpg but a fps. Also i fail to see whats wrong with the combat system, i actually found it just right for an rpg since fallout 2 was like that, 10 shots with the pistol to kil an enemy, later on? They took 20 shots, atleast in F3 you can shoot far more bullets in a shorter amount of time. Vats was mostly cool to look at rather being a smart mechanic. But the way they balance weapons was amazing. Either they give you some weak guns with lots of ammo or a good gun but damaged and with low ammo. So to get past various situations you will have to use diffirent weapons by accessing that nice thingy called "inventory"!! It gave a new meaning to diffirent weapons= diffirent feel!!
By osbidian not bethesda. They do it in order to cover the timelapse between fallout 3 and fallout 4!! There are rumors saying its gonna be diffirent from fallout 3, bu there are screenshots that it looks exactly the same as fallout 3!!OK I will admit I am a bit confused here and I haven't really been following the Fallout franchise closely, but isn't the next Fallout going to be "Fallout : New Vegas" or something ?

Think it will be Skyrim. That name got bought by Bethesda years ago. Why place a hold on a name if it's not for a new title? I hope they don't go MMO, the SP is what made the Elder Scrolls great. After the success of Oblivion they would be crazy to not do another. Oblivion was one of my fav games which I still go to now and again after all this time. Preferred it over Morrowind.

The combat sucked because the bullets don't come out of the gun properly. The trajectory goes in a direction in which you are not aiming. Make the monsters as powerful as you want, but don't compromise my ability to hit the target very accurately. Also the VATS system was worthless and stupid.
You excusing RPG's for crappy combat systems quite frankly is pathetic.
I actually like the combat in Oblivion. I also like the graphics, animation, music, the ability to own houses, quests, and expansions.
In fact - if Oblivion would have had forts, towns and cities like Morrowind had, it would have been awfully close to a perfect RPG.
Maybe combining the best of both of them is the direction they should go in. Of course - that would mean a MASSIVE game.
As for Fallout 3 - I LOVE the VATS system. One of my favorite moves is to use VATS to shoot the weapon out of their hands, and then attack their back with Shishkebab, while Dogmeat chews on their face. . . . Huh - that seems a lot more disturbing now that I've actually, you know, written it down.
Iam in love with Oblivion....Iam playing it for almost a year now and i didnt finnish it! Can you belive it?:D...to be more exactlly i have 11 months since iam playing TES IV : Oblivion and i think i have completed only half of the game till now...btw my goal is to make every single quest that is avaible ingame :D and i think i want to read all the books avaible in game too...recentlly i have purchased the Shivering Isles expansion pack and i think i wont be able to finnish the game this year :D....I thnk Oblivion is my fav games of all time!!!!
Back to the topic...ived seen the news about the next TES set to be a MMO here on gamespot and on the TESNexus forum(if i remeber right) and i think i saw it on some other web site too but i cannot remember the name of the site....if this "news" was all over the internet then maybe it is true....
I heard it's gonna be in Skyrim, and judging by bethesda's history of TES releases I think we will see it early next gen. I hope it will be like Oblivion, but with more polish, better voice acting, and more varied environments. Maybe throw in the dwemer somehow as well.

Right, the reason it felt like that was because of your statistics, i dont have that problem after i spend plenty of skill points, the accuracy of the weapons is actually increased and that is done because its an rpg not a fps. So the excuse of being an rpg is actually the real reason and not pathetic. There is so much innacuracy because its an rpg, and rpgs have statistics, it was not supose to have reallistic bullet spread, ofcourse if your skills are low bullets will not go where you aiming at. Also VATS is far from useless, its the most effective attack you can use against an enemy. But i guess since you consider it useless, it is clear you do not understand fallout 3 at all. Well, attack, attack and block, oh and there is a heavy attack. Overall it was polished for a hack and slash game but not much for an rpg. You could mix up with bow and magic to break the repettion.Bleh, not another Fallout. We need TESV first. Fallout has the crappiest combat system. Just imagine a successor to Morrowind, with a wicked combat system, set in DX11. Drool...
I really hope all this MMO talk turns out to be false.
I'll cheers to that, MMO's are such a waste of time. I did enjoy Fallout 3 and Ovlivion though, maybe they will announce a successor to it at E3[QUOTE="DasVolks"][QUOTE="dakan45"]I am amazed that so many people found the combat bad? And as I get better make it sway less. Screwing with bullet trajectory is moronic as bullets come out of the gun straight no matter how skilled you are; whether it hits your intended target is another story. I did use the VATS system all the time and I hated it, I only used it because the guns' trajectories were so crappy.

Here we go again, didnt i explain you that its an rpg and not an fps, it wont have recoil on guns and its not trying to be reallistic or an fps. So yeah bullets not going straight is not an fps thing but its an rpg thing. Just like you attack someone in morrowind with a sword and you miss, thats how you miss in fallout 3. Its not crappy design, its the way they made it. If you were as much accurate as you say, then what would the skills do? Increase damage? That means they would have to lower weapon damage ever more. Or decrease accuracy loss when you shoot? That would take away all the personallity from the guns since at higher levels the guns will never miss. Or add headshots and turn it into an fps? The game is like deus ex, you need to be skilled in guns to be good with them. The only diffirence is that instead of having to stant still and wait for a while in order for your crosshair to fill up, you miss more often. I dont think standing still and waiting for 3 seconds for the crosshair to get smaller would be a better idea. Buts lets forget that and pick mass effect 1, in mass effect 1, weapons loose too much accuracy while firing and you have to wait for a while to be accurate again, and that "while" seemed long, so long that i would prefer if there was less spread and there was less accuracy just like fallout 3. Lets pick mass effect 2, they turned combat into an action game, its no longer rpg. Is that what you want too? To turn the combat into a fps? I guess you can give borderlands a shot but the thing is that borderlands does not have any skills to increase related to the weapons effectiveness. But what they should have done instead of that in fallout 3? How else could they use the weapon stats if not the way they are right now?[QUOTE="DasVolks"][QUOTE="dakan45"] Here we go again, didnt i explain you that its an rpg and not an fps, it wont have recoil on guns and its not trying to be reallistic or an fps. If you read my post again you would see that I suggested weapon sway, not crosshairs getting smaller. That way you can still have RPG elements by decreasing weapon sway as you level up, and it allows FPS players to still be able to make accurate shots as long as they account for the weapon sway (which would be somewhat difficult).
Mass Effect's way of dealing with the small crosshair -> large crosshair after shooting for a long time was a great way of dealing with it. It forced you to not spray and pray and it also gave the FPS player the ability to aim and shoot where he wanted.
Just because you have a better combat system doesn't mean the game should become any less of an RPG. I'm not sure where you're coming up with this idea from.

I think sway and mass effect accuracy loss are a designed crappily combat system, that being said i take my leave. Fallout 3 is very well done the way it is. Sway is an action element not an rpg, you could might as well add weapon jumping up and down when you shoot and turn it into a fps instead. So fallout 3 having a crappy combat sysem is your opinion and not a true fact. Lol man, don't worry. They would never go back to a Morrowind combat system. Morrowind had that combat system because of the limited tech during which time the game was made. The combat will only get better.
Actually Dakan, I wasn't talking about FO3's combat, I had no problems with that one. I had problems with the combat in Oblivion, which was boring in every possible way, if It was like the one I found on Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (very good imo), it'd be a great game.rmfd341
Agreed, Oblivion combat was awful, DMMM had a great sword/block combat system.
Let there be more morrowind... Not saying that we should not take the good parts from Oblivion also... But there are more good things in morrowind then Oblivion overall so :P
