Ive per-orded the collectors edition, i dont know why but i just thought i would :), Yeah the producers and online editors have gone all out this time to make the game play on lower cpu machines which is great. As online content, well the've brang in sim points which allow members of the community to buy new items and stuff like that. I also heard that there will be a second town to download called riverside, and its has a better story to play through.

I also think that the new triat system is great, the way you can now really make your sims unique. In sims 2 you had the old system of aries or cancer, now you can make somone a vegetarian, who hates the outdoors, is insane or anything you like. The online community should be intreasting thanks to the movie mash up tool.

The game looks great from what i've seen and i would recomened it to all of you

Exscuse me if i sound to harsh when i say this, but come on, look at the leap from sims 2 to sims 3...COMPARE THE DIFFRENCE, ITS HUGE!!!

And whilst we are on the discustion of graphics i would just like to say that the dircetors of the game dident go all out on the game vbecause they wabted it to run well. Im more happy with a well running game than with a little bit more realisim. Ths sims is what it is, so what if its not like call of duty or anytning that looks realistic, its just more fun than real.

People have to stop nagging about graphics because it's driving me round the bend...

sim, ugh....

Oh and to answer the guy who's buying the game for he's wife question...

Online play, isant online play if you get my drift, from what i've seen there iss a screen in game which connects you to the community so things can be shared instantly. Thats not a defo answer, i could be wrong, do some research my man and look forward to the release...

Ah, good old Sims. A game series that truly practices what it preaches: In the games, lives are made better by constantly acquiring new things. That turns out to be quite similar to the business model of the game series itself. :P

The Sims 3, if the game lives up to expectations, will be a huge leap forward for the series - not a baby step.

The Sims 2, which I loved for the first week, in the end felt too confined - I really wanted to get away from my lot and go explore the world and interact with other sims. And it was extremely odd that my own sims were growing older, and advancing, but all the other sims were not. So the two big issues I had with The Sims 2 seem to have been addressed.

My hope is that The Sims 3 will really be the beginning of the series, and that I'll spend more than just a week playing it. I have my fingers crossed on this one.

But about the graphics. Honestly, I am disappointed. I understand that E.A. has created a cash cow here, and would clearly be shooting themselves in the foot if they were to have created a robust engine, which would've worked on only state of the art hardware. But man, if they had created an engine for the Enthusiast market, this game could've been through the roof. Imagine a Sims game with a city on par with that of Liberty City in GTA 4. That would have been my dream game realized.

Why? Make me rage and want to just say **** YOU and pirate them and not buy them because you just wasted my money on those things..that aren't going to be there in this next game you know next ****ing game in your gen of games that should have all this stuff in there..

I am always making analogies, so I appologize, but! By your logic, having a PC and getting some upgrades for it, say Memory, do not mean that you get to have Memory upgrades for life. Things change. The Sims3 Engine is vastly different and worlds ahead of what you got on day one with Sims2.

Suck it up, buttercup. It is all about having the best at the moment. Sims2 had its day, and a very long day it was. At least you know Sims isnt abandonware, which 97% of all the games I have ever owned are.

My friends make fun of me for liking it, so dont feel left out.

It is a pretty rediculous game, but it has a weird depth and lots of choices that appeal to me.

I have been a long time fan, but I can remember playing vanilla (no mods or expansions) Sims1 for the first time and thinking, "WTF?"

It is a lot of babysitting pixels in a virtual sandbox, but its good for laughs and a challenge in its own sappy way.

Does it confuse you that you can't 'equip' your character, and go on a killing spree?

It's not in the least confusing, it is just pointless and not fun to me whatsoever.

I like games that either (a) have some sort of point (such as an engrossing story) or (b) are fun. Preferably both.
