Are logitech speakers bad quality?

GamerGal13579

Their top-end systems are good (nothing that's going to get an audiophile wet, but pretty decent), however all Logitech speaker systems get a bad rap because their cheap systems (like the one you plan on getting) aren't very good.

I'd go with a full ATX board. You're already starting off with two expansion cards. If you ever wanted to crossfire your GPU, you would need to remove the sound card.

Get a wired keyboard and mouse, wireless ones are hopeless, especially if they're cheap ones.

Something like the ASRock Extreme6. Larger allowing for more expansion slots and just an all-round better motherboard.

A few thoughts:

16G of RAM is overkill, but it won't hurt anything.

Why not max out the graphics card right now? It would be a shame to go to all this trouble just to have the rig chug in Crysis.

Why a micro-ATX mobo? Give yourself some room. You might need a PCIe slot.

Bigger PSU for the bigger graphics card.

You want a Samsung 840 Pro 128G.

Get a 5.1 speaker setup. Plastic cabinets suck, by the way.

Have you looked at bigger monitors? Why cramp your field of vision? The monitor is arguably the most important part of a system because it's what you have to look at the whole time.

Uhh, he/she is planning on getting a 7970... And unless they want to spend loads more on a 1440p or 1600p, there's no point in getting a larger monitor. 24" is big enough for 1080p. @OP: One other thing, unless you really like the layouy/shape of the F710, I would recommend just getting a 360 pad. I'm not sure what compatibility is like with the F710, but any (going back several years) with controller support is guaranteed to work the the MS 360 pad (without needing something like xpadder).

Is there anything wrong with the 7970? I thought it was fairly good quality for its price.

Also, I pretty much use my headset every time i go on my computer. I will maybe use speakers once in every 7 times.

Is it even worth paying lots for good speakers if I will hardly use them.

I am a little bit careful about my spending. I planned to go for $2000 an I am already over that. I don't really want to spend too mush more.

Are there any parts/components that will be useless?

Random thoughts

skip Blu-Ray get a regular dvd thing unless you're hooking it up to an 80 inch plasma

7970 is overkill unless you're gonna use a triple-monitor setup, kick it down to a 7850

RAM is fine, you can kick it down to 8 gig with no appreciable difference (if 16gb becomes necessary in the future, you gonna want a higher speed)

skip the soundcard unless you're gonna invest in serious audiophile hardware

Mobo is good, maybe upgrade for 2xPCIE slots, in the future you can add another 7850 and xfire them

CPU is good

Power supply is good, not sure about the Seasonic brand

HD is good

SSD meh, probably extraneous

Speakers are fine

$89 for a webcam? Only if I'm doing porno.

Skip wireless keyboard/mouse, get wired

OS is fine

Monitor is fine

You can get a surge protector at Wally World for 6 bucks

Joystick, ok

Gamepad no, get a wired xbox360 controller, it's higher quality and probably have more compatibility with games

LazySloth718

why the hell would you recommend her to go down to a 7850 from a 7970??? next gen is right around the corner and that card is fully capable and performance is wayyyyyyy better ...

It doesn't take much to drive 1920x1080 on a single monitor.

Some people like to play games at high/max settings with great framerates, not just drive their monitor...

A few things that came up in my mind when looking at your list:-

- Why Micro-ATX motherboard? It limits the space on the motherboard for other future upgrades you might consider.

- Reduce the RAM to 8GB. There's no need for 16GB.

- I've never heard of the Seasonic brand for the PSU. Have you looked at Coolermaster?

- I'd get a Nvidia GPU myself, but AMD is fine. Leave it.

- Sound card is pointless unless you want superb sound quality. If you want it, that's fine.

You have picked a very powerful card, but to truly MAX the most demanding games, you would need a 7990. Just sayin'. This is GAMEspot, remember, not PHOTOSHOPspot, so I'm always going to push for more graphics card. Budget is king, of course.

Good speakers are expensive, so if you are near the top of your budget, and you mostly use headphones, anyway, then forget I said anything. Any cheap set will be about the same as any other. All the 2.1s at your link cost more than the one you picked.

The 7970 is top-notch. Well, second-to-top. You will be plenty happy if you are not a hard-core graphics nut like me.

You want that sound card with headphones, big time. It has Dolby Headphone, which simulates positional audio for headphones, and an equalized amp. Surround sound is nice (read "vital") for gaming (remember, this is GAMEspot), so I'd be looking at 5.1 speakers even so.

I myself would drop down to 4G RAM, but the price is rather small either way. You can always add more later if you start doing something that uses it, like video editing.

Save yourself $200

More battle-tested drivers

Look at the card on Newegg, 3/5

Over time they will improve the 7970 and it will even get cheaper and more reliable.

Well there are clearly 2 people in this thread that shouldn't be posting.

Seasonic make some of the best power supplies out there, and the difference between a 7650 and a 7970 is huge.

EDIT: As for speakers from that site, Swan and Audioengine tend to be good. (Although the cheapest swans in the list don't look lik a great buy)

Ok, So should I get the ASRock Z77 Extreme6 Motherboard? It isn't much more than the ASRock Z77 PRO4-M.

Do I need the sound card or not? There seem to be mixed opinions.

And all of the speakers look very expensive!!!

If I keep the sound card, how will it affect my headset experience. If it is high quality headset audio, I might keep it.

And do I really need high quality speakers if I will hardly ever use them? Are there any on this page that are fairly cheap but good quality?

Is the SteelSeries Sensei Raw Glossy Black Gaming Mouse a good mouse? It is $69 but is it worth it? It sounds like a good one.

And when paired with the Logitech K200 Media Keyboard, I will still be saving money rather than getting the Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710. :D

Also, which of these mouse pads is good quality and will not cost too much? (A few if possible)

- I've never heard of the Seasonic brand for the PSU. Have you looked at Coolermaster?

Why should I listen to you when your credibility is that low? Move somewhere else, maybe SW is ideal for you.

oh yes my credibility is extremely low. how about you stop giving advice full stop seeing as you're no good at it, and you're new here. Maybe, just maybe, if only you were as smart as you think you are your posts would be more worthwhile.

EDIT: if you're referring to the other post in the OC thread, I didnt make it. I just found it via google. continuing derping along by all means.

Where did I say to avoid Seasonic? I simply stated that I've never heard of them.

People who don't know the difference between "your" and "you're" are damaging their image throughout the forums. I judged him from that, it's a sign of little intelligence.

After Blistrax calling me out and some research myself, it looks like Seasonic is a decent brand.

Seasonic is a manufacturer, a respected one. They also make the Corsair brand. Cooler Master does not make their own power supplies. Get the Seasonic.

Oh cool, I personally never heard of Seasonic.

-----

Yeah, they look decent.

They look decent? In what way? Exactly what aspect of their functionality, manufacture, company philosophy, component selection, or aesthetics looks "decent" to you? (In case you didn't get that: You're only making it worse. The correct reply would have been "I apologize for giving the OP bad advice. I will pay more attention to my medication schedule in the future, and I will go back to lurk mode until I feel better. Please ignore my recent posts.")

Next time I need spelling and grammar advice, I'll remember who I need to go to. But for now, I'm on a PC hardware board.

You're new to the Internet, aren't you? This is what you get. The trick is to determine which answers are legitimate. I can't help you with that, because for all you know I'm a retired nun in Bali at the local Internet cafe who doesn't know a damn thing about computers and just makes stuff up because I hate Americans so much.

its a great build.  The price is over the top ridiculous though, I probably spent $1500 for a similar build.

If I keep the sound card, how will it affect my headset experience. If it is high quality headset audio, I might keep it.

And do I really need high quality speakers if I will hardly ever use them? Are there any on this page that are fairly cheap but good quality?

Can I use the SteelSeries Sensei Raw Glossy Black Gaming Mouse? It sounds like a good one but is it?

I can pair it with the Logitech K200 Media Keyboard and it will still be less money than the Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710. (I don't want a gaming keyboard)

The Logitech G500 Laser gaming mouse will stand out from the keyboard. I want them all to match.

Which of these mouse pads is good quality and will not cost too much? (A few if possible)

Only you can say how important sound is for you. Unless you're going audiophile full positional surround, the ones you originally picked would be OK. I think a sound card is a must for headphones, and you've picked a good one.

Wireless has lag. The mouse is an extension of your arm. It has to fit your hand and feel right. Go to a store and try them all out if you can. Same goes for mouse pads. You don't actually need one at all, you know, if your desktop works OK with your mouse, and I can't believe anybody would pay more than $10.00 for one (Australian or US). Get one you think is pretty.

I'll definitely go for the sound card. I will hardly be using speakers but I want my headset audio to be the best quality possible. Those speakers are sold out, are there any at close to that price range that are the same or better quality?

There is this one: Edifier X220 Multimedia 2.1 Speaker System (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=20574) for $35

Also this one: Creative Inspire T3130 2.1 Speakers (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=12599) for $45

And this one: Logitech Z313 2.1 Speakers (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=15420) for $49

The cheaper the better if possible.

This mousepad should do?

CoolerMaster Speed-RX Mouse Pad Medium (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_44&products_id=22304) for $22

Is that mouse fine or will I have to go to a shop? I like the look of it but if it isn't good quality, I will go to the shops
