If I keep the sound card, how will it affect my headset experience. If it is high quality headset audio, I might keep it.

And do I really need high quality speakers if I will hardly ever use them? Are there any on this page that are fairly cheap but good quality?

Can I use the SteelSeries Sensei Raw Glossy Black Gaming Mouse? It sounds like a good one but is it?

I can pair it with the Logitech K200 Media Keyboard and it will still be less money than the Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710. (I don't want a gaming keyboard)

The Logitech G500 Laser gaming mouse will stand out from the keyboard. I want them all to match.

Which of these mouse pads is good quality and will not cost too much? (A few if possible)

Only you can say how important sound is for you. Unless you're going audiophile full positional surround, the ones you originally picked would be OK. I think a sound card is a must for headphones, and you've picked a good one.

Wireless has lag. The mouse is an extension of your arm. It has to fit your hand and feel right. Go to a store and try them all out if you can. Same goes for mouse pads. You don't actually need one at all, you know, if your desktop works OK with your mouse, and I can't believe anybody would pay more than $10.00 for one (Australian or US). Get one you think is pretty.

I'll definitely go for the sound card. I will hardly be using speakers but I want my headset audio to be the best quality possible. Those speakers are sold out, are there any at close to that price range that are the same or better quality?

There is this one: Edifier X220 Multimedia 2.1 Speaker System (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=20574) for $35

Also this one: Creative Inspire T3130 2.1 Speakers (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=12599) for $45

And this one: Logitech Z313 2.1 Speakers (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=567_568&products_id=15420) for $49

The cheaper the better if possible.

This mousepad should do?

CoolerMaster Speed-RX Mouse Pad Medium (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_44&products_id=22304) for $22

Is that mouse fine or will I have to go to a shop? I like the look of it but if it isn't good quality, I will go to the shops

Of those three, I'd get the Creative because they're relatively heavy. But if you aren't going to game with them, stereo will likely give you better bang/buck than 2.1. You don't need 2.1 for music, for instance.

I see nothing wrong with that mouse pad.

That Sensei mouse got mostly good reviews at Amazon. Read them yourself and see what you think.

Mouse pads get something like a razer goliathus or a Steelseries Qck.

I doubt there's a huge difference between the speakers considering there aren't even specifications like driver size.

As said before, a mouse is a very personal thing, I wouldn't want to buy one without trying it first.

Sorry for jumping  in...didn't read other posts.

This is what I would change-

Mobo-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157295

GPU-lose the ASUS 3-slot...you can't get a good CF with it. Get this instead-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127670                              One of the best 7970s on the market if you can find it.

PSU-650W is not so good now- 850W is good for next 4-5 years- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151102

And your CPU-cooler- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

Or get a water cooling if your spending 2000$ and water-cool your CPU AND GPU.

Are logitech speakers bad quality?

C_Rule

Their top-end systems are good (nothing that's going to get an audiophile wet, but pretty decent), however all Logitech speaker systems get a bad rap because their cheap systems (like the one you plan on getting) aren't very good.

I'd go with a full ATX board. You're already starting off with two expansion cards. If you ever wanted to crossfire your GPU, you would need to remove the sound card.

Get a wired keyboard and mouse, wireless ones are hopeless, especially if they're cheap ones.

Go with this And if you want to save a bit more you can get a 7950 instead 7970 and save $80-100 while not loosing more than 10-15% performance. You can also save a bit more by getting a 2Tb disk instead of a 3Tb one . Especially considering that WD green is a 5400RPM HD that will drag your system performance down on certain operations. Its better to get a 7200rpm 1 or 2 tb HD instead As for the webcam no reason to get a $90 webcam over a $30-40 one if you dont need it for anything fancy

What headset will you be using? Will you be connecting it to the sound card or to the case via USB?

Not exactly sure but it looks like it might be the GameCom 367 headset.

I am not sure if it is really old but I didn't get it that long ago.

I only have a Macbook Air at the moment so I have been plugging it into the headphone slot on the side.

I was planning on plugging it into the front of my case if possible, which would mean that I would have the microphone working too.

I still haven't used the microphone because the Macbook Air doesn't include a microphone slot.

Will the Logitech C270 HD Webcam be fine instead of the more expensive one? It is only $28

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=17562

I am going to get the ASRock Z77 Extreme6 Motherboard instead of the PRO-4. Not much of a price difference.

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_1183&products_id=19870

I will keep the sound card. So go for stereo speakers instead????

If you really want the sound card then go with a 3-slot PCI-e express MOBO.

Also, the 7970 you picked isn't really that great for the money. It takes up 3 slots and makes having 2 GPU's extremly hard. You are better off with a normal 2-slot card like the Sapphire or MSi (I can vouch for the Twin Frozr cooler). Stay away from 3-slot monsters.

I can only see a few 3 slot MOBO's that are around the same price range as the Extreme6.

MSI Z77A-GD80 Motherboard - $199

Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3 Motherboard - $179

Are either of these good and if so, which one of them is better?

Am I mistaken or did it say that the sniper one comes with a good quality sound chip or something for headsets?

Which of these cards only takes up two slots?

Not really sure what to look for.

GamerGal13579

When you install a PCI card, there is a tab on the backplate that slips into a slot in the chassis to hold the bottom in, the end near the mobo. You tighten a screw at the other end where there is a slotted flange to hold the card in place. There will be as many tabs or screw slots as bays the card will take up.

Go for the MSi since its 50$ off. Also, try to get a 7970 Lightning Ed. from MSi. By far the best 2-slot 7970 on the market. For me it was that card or the MSi 7950 TF 3. I got the 7950 and can tell you that the twin frozr cooler is good and silent.

What would the quality/speed differences between the 7970 and the 7950?

Gigabyte Radeon HD7970 GHz Edition 3GB - $469

Is this one a 2-slot card? I can save a few dollars by getting it. And I won't have to change to a 7950. Is it a good card?

GamerGal13579

The one place where you don't want to save a few dollars is in the graphics card. That's the whole raison d'etre of the computer. That would be like building a drag racer and going with a six-cylinder engine instead of an eight to save money. The performance difference between the 7950 Boost and the 7970 GHz is about 20 to 25 percent. The card you link to here is faster than the one you originally listed.

It is 2-slot.

I will get the MSi motherboard but the 7970 lightning edition is not on PC Case Gear.

Only the MSI Radeon HD7950 3GB Twin Frozr III Boost Edition - $329

I want the best quality graphics possible but I have only ever had a Macbook Air, which couldn't even play games.

Any improvement will be awesome. And any money saved aswell. Is it worth it to go for the 7950 or should I just get the lightning from a different place.

It would be quite inconvenient though :|

Thanks for your help with the card!!!

Now, some last minute things to sort out.

1. I am getting the Corsair Vengeance CML16GX3M2A1600C10 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 RAM.

Is there anything wrong with it because I think that someone said I could get better quality. They might have just meant size (32GB) though.

2. I was browsing the forum when I saw a conversation about WD Green and Black Hard Drives.

At the moment, I was going to get the Western Digital WD Green 3TB WD30EZRX

I saw that people were saying that the Black versons are better. Should I go for the Western Digital WD Black 2TB WD2002FAEX instead?

What would be the speed/quality difference? Or should I not go for a Western Digital at all?

3. I am getting the Seasonic G-650 80Plus Gold 650W Power Supply.

Do I need more power for my rig? And is this a good quality power supply?

4. And I am still very confused about what speakers to go for. Are there any on this page that are close to or under $50? As good quality as possible.

I know that this is quite an ask but I don't really want to spend too much on them as I will hardly be using them. Just for the occasional YouTube with siblings but apart from that, all headset.

5. Will the Logitech C270 HD Webcam be fine instead of the Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam?

C270 - (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=17562)

C920 - (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=20151)

I will be using it every once in a while for Skype video calls but that is about it. I will also need it for a microphone when I am not using a headset. Is the microphone quality good? What about video quality?

Thanks for all of your help!!! Once these things are sorted out, I will put up a reviewed list of components. :D

WD greens are designed for simple storage of files and power saving. You're better off with a black for running programs.

Seasonic make good power supplies.

GamerGal13579

The more expensive camera is 1080p. That will require top-notch cable or FIOS internet at both ends. It's nice, but the 720p of the cheaper one is also very good, and it is more likely to be usable at 720. The microphone in my Logitech webcam is fine for speech, and I guess it's the same with both of those cams. The video is not going to win any Academy Awards, but what do you want from a plastic lens the size of an ant's head? I think you won't lose much, if anything, by getting the cheaper one if all you do with it is the occasional Skype.

I checked up and the lower quality webcam is supposedly a very good one. I will get that.

I will also go for the 2TB WD Black and keep the RAM and PSU.

Now, the only thing left is the speakers.... I might be able to check up on some online reviews. Any help is appreciated though :D

Speakers are subjective to what you want to achieve/quality. Its going to be hard for anyone to say one way or the other outside of quality. If you're looking at logitech's etc, or in that price range your best bet will be to go to somewhere like jb/harvey norman etc and have a listen as they stock most of those as well.

i would pass on the asrock motherboard and get either an asus z77 sabertooth or a gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD4H instead. and also don't wasteyour money on a logitech gamepad, just get an xbox 360 wired controller and plug it in, win7 will detect it and it works with almost everything imaginable - the wireless version works as well so long as you get the pc wireless adapter for it.
