Didn't like the Witcher nor the main character in the first game. I liked the new design but, it looks like they are going back to the old fatty look with a double chin. Also found out through this thread that they going to try and keep the same annoying voice actor that tried way WAY too hard to have one of those, "I'm way too cool" voices that just ends up being ultra cheesy. Ugh... this game is looking to be just as terrible as the first.

I do prefer the old version and athe old hair. Not sure what's going on with Geralt's new dew.

So it's a tie so far, but then again, some voted Triss. :P From the general response here, it looks like Old Geralt is preferred and this is probably the reason why CD Projekt RED reverted back to the old look; to not piss off the fans and remain in safe haven.

heheh touche. The tide has turned it was the right decision after all :P Honestly though the new look is ok too I don't dislike it but think old one is better because I just preferred the rough damaged look the Geralt who has gone through a tough journey & fights. That was look we knew him by just felt they changed enough from the original to make his character persona different in the process. Probably would have the same conversation flipped if the new Geralt was the original and the old new. Did like how his hair flowed whilst he moved:P

I like the new one, there is something more sleek an agile about it -- more attractive too... this is coming from a male that has just embarrased himself in front of Gamespot though :| :(. if anything the new Geralt just looks like a younger version of the old Geralt.

The pic of the Old Geralt looks like Kratos with long hair to appease the badassery crowd -- CONSOLIZED!!11!!!

I prefer the old version of Geralt. There is absolutely no reason to change the character's look in the sequel unless there is a plausible explanation behind it.

For someone who has been in plenty of battles i would expect him to not look like a pretty boy. I prefer the original.

I like the older look. How can you think he evolved if his face looks like it lost 15 years? There's too many pointy faces in games these days.

The first one was when he didn't give a damn. Now, he is more self conscious. 8)

Mr_BillGates

This, the new Geralt is definitely more concerned about his looks. Which is why I like the old. His face is all cut up and his hair has no styling at all.

Old all the way, the features in his face were distinct, felt like a hawk; his eyes were focused and dangerous. His body was strong but slim without overly defined abs, from the new videos he has a body build of a swimmer not of a fighter.

I liked that you mentioned the swimmer body-type and not of a wrestler/fighter. Interesting. I will agree on the body type.

I don't really care what Geralt looks like, as long as the game is good. Is there a bunch of hair designers and make-up artists who post on gamespot that I wasn't aware of?

The new Geralt looks really serious in that pic although albeit a little too pretty compared to the old look. While the old Geralt based on the first Witcher game, seemed too nonchalant for me.

StrawberryHill

So if Geralt had pink hair, three legs, one eye and used a school girl skirt you would be ok with it as long as the game was good...?

Well, just as absurd as yours I guess. What's wrong with discussing a "change" in a video game? be it in gameplay, graphics, character creation, sound, design, art style.... etc

I kinda like the second pic's model better, but i don't especially care for either. Triss has a marked improvement though.

The "new old" look is the better and the final (chosen by devs) look... also it much better resembles Geralt from the first game.

Old look. He looks like more of a badass.Artekus
Yeah.He looked like he is a member of a boy band in the 'new look'.Not like a badass professional monster slayer. So glad they fixed it to where he looks as he did in the first game. The new look had me thinking he'd periodically break out in song & dance about true love and kittens...

Pony-tail isn't actually bad considering the books - It's part of the lore and it has its practical explanation since having long hair is problematic in combat... but anyway, I would love to see a simple customization option where you choose the hair style for Geralt.

I've played RPGS as a crossdresser and I've played games where I am an alien that I can't releate to in any fashion. Nobody should care what their main characters look like, you don't decided you're own look if do don't go under the knife why can't you accept the game character for how they look?

I cant take this anymore, i am just gonna go ahead and say it and feel free to flame. The old look in the first witcher SUCKED. he looked like a freaking hobo. Like nothing impressive, his face wa UGLY. On the new look with the ponytail i felt like the damn developers realized that and fixed the damn character so he looks respectable. Yes he looks younger, but seriously what kinda woman would fall for that ugly face in the first game? Make no sense.

Are you attracted to men? Otherwise I don't see how your opinion would hold any weight. He's not described as a modern day anorexic model in the books either, so what you said makes even less sense.

I agree. The old Geralt looked too nonchalant. Life-less, really, even for a Witcher. And according to the polls now, people actually prefer the NEW look based on what we've gathered so far. I'd like to see what the reaction would be like on their official website forums.

I can't accept the game character for how they look? What? Huh? Read the topic of the thread, it's which Geralt do you prefer, new or old. I prefer the old.
