Ok I started the installation at about 1 this evening (the install, not this long "modifying game files" part) and I left so I don't know exactly how long that took, but now it's at this modifying game files part, which says it takes up to two hours. It's not 4:40, so it's almost been four hours! Should I restart this or leave it? It says if I try to manually end it, I will have to re-install the game, but it's taking up a lot of memory right now. ANyone else have this problem?

i dont remember it taking that long.....but i have a fast HDD so maybe that reduced the time.

stick with it...it does take a while. its modifying and improving huge chunks of the game. if its not over by around 6:00...then maybe consider cancelling it and reionstalling the game and redownloading the patch. ure download may be corrupted.

but it takes quite some time.

i remember it took an amazingly long time compared to any other game patch - stick it out and it should be fine. :)

I couldn't tell you how long it took.... I left the computer alone for about 12 hours when I did that patch.

And when I first tried the patch I had to reinstall the Witcher and it's previous patch, because I didnt' have enough room on my harddrive for the EE patch. The EE patch doesn't check if you have enough room, it just warns you of how much space you need. If it runs out of HDD space, it just promps you with an ignore/coninue/abort prompt, and you are forced to Abort; breaking the game; forcing you to uninstall and start over from scratch...

Did you download everything? Being that I didn't ignore their instructions... I don't know what happens if you don't follow their complete instruction. But the way they have the page set up and their instructions, you have to download the patch, and the language patch. And have them in the same directory..... Then run the executible TWEE_upgrade.exe

I didn't run into any real problems.... just a lack of harddrive space that was my own fault.... I also dont' know if the 1.4 patch is a stand alone patch or not.... I had the old patch on my HDD, and I just did it first. Probably didn't need to.

Heh my problem was number 3... and number 2 states 1-4 hours for the installation.... so that answers the orginal posters question of it's been 4 hours already.... I guess.
