Hmmm here's a new one! Usually it's Crysis vs. CoD4 :PForerunner-117
indeed. to choose one out of two from the same genre makes more sense.
the OP (of this kind of thread in general) should've stated which kind of game he/she's into. If Op is primarily a shooter or action gamer, this question is really a no-brainer.
It's a tough call. The Witcher is an amazing RPG, and it's 2004 since the last great RPG was out, I'd say. Playing such a well built roleplaying game - a game that actually is a roleplaying game, and not some monstrosity masquerading as a roleplaying game because you can level up... well, it's really something. The Witcher gets just about everything right.
But Crysis, man... Crysis has just amazed me from start to... well, middle, since i'm around 3/4 in. Really, though, the depth and breadth of gameplay - it's up there with Escape From Butcher Bay and Half Life 2. And the game actually makes me hoot and holler and go HOLY SUGAR! at some of the things I've seen and done. The word 'epic' is banded about a lot these days, but Crysis is a game that really deserves it.
But ultimately, it's personal preference. I love both genres, I don't care about Crysis's multiplayer or The Witcher's lack thereof, so it's all about single player campaigns. The Witcher's is much longer, but for me, it has almost zero replayability. I'll replay The Witcher, but it'll be at least a year off, probably - like marathoning the LOTR movies, it's just not something to do too often.
Crysis, though - it may be shorter, but it has much more replayability. I'm not even finished with the game and I'm loading up older bits to replay, because they're just so damn good - sometimes to try them in different ways, sometimes to just get that YEAH DADDY! feeling of seeing such spectacular things.
I've gotta go with Crysis, but it is a hard choice.
Man, I just finished Crysis yesterday on Delta, after 21 hours of pure glory, and can't known how any could finish the campaign in 6 hours except without exploring the landscape. I evenhave not killed all the enemies... And the part of the aliens if very envigorating: after battles with dozens of enemies in what you must use cloak often is a gift to see parts with a few of enemies that you must take out in direct combat a la Quake style. My only complaint about the game is the Gatling, too weak.
I also bougth The Witcher but I have not begun still... My advice as far as I can say is BOTH games.
Ok OK OK, I know that inicially one would say crysis but for those of you who have played both games which would you recomend.arangadillo
No I wouldn't! Get the Witcher.
Dude, come on, stop wasting our time by asking questions like these. Use gamespot's review system, that's what it's for. Don't have other people do work that you can easily do yourself.
Also, try the demo's. Decide which one you like better that way.

TW has a demo? Not that it matters, I have the game already...
Damn mommas rich kids dont understand the guy has enough money only for 1 game and he has to choose between crysis and witcher
I would say The Witcher even when i think Crysis is amazing, because witcher is a game that could last u a LOT OF TIME and it is pretty amazing love the story love everything about it
Crysis is also amazing but the campaign is pretty short... And the MP isnt too good so lets say it just doesnt count as something thats going to extend the time u play the game like in COD4
I finished COD4 in 4-5 hours and don't feel the urge to play it again.
I finished Crysis in around 10 Hours, but after playing it there was no need for more.....i havend played for one minute since i finished it. (by the way i disliked the ending VERY MUCH!)
I played The Witcher for around 50 Hours and i think i only have seen half of the game.
Once i am through with it i will start again since there is soo much to see ( and you have alot of choices to make, all of them change the story and how you play).
I think that says anything.
I would only recommend Crysis over The Witcher, if you have a killer rig which can diplay this game on very high on a decent framerate, and you are a FPS fan. If not play the Witcher now and play Crysis when you can enjoy it to the fullest (hardwarewise).
