is awful!!! The game is awesome and really complex but just in the first 2 hours of gameplay I saw stuttering, constant framerate issues (The game can't decide between running at 80, 70, 60, 50, 40 or even 30 FPS) and small 1 second freezes. I've already installed every patch (Version 1.5, EE with the director's cut content added) and I'm still having issues.

Is there any fix? Because I'm liking the game but those technical issues are fricking annoying.

NOTE: I'm playing on Max settings with 4XAA, 16XAF on a 1440X900 monitor

idk man the demo ran pretty horribly on my pc, back when my cpu was still a 6000+ dual core.

i think they could have done much better with the performance on it as well.

Actually, the demo ran awful on my PC too, but I wouldn't have expected this performance on the full game, it's simply unacceptable, specially after downloading 3+GB of patches.

I had to stop playing as I got crashes from time to time and my computer is more than able to run it.

Its a badly optimised game, but eventually you should get used to it. Its kinda like Oblivion in that sense. It is kinda disappointing to see that you are having problems with it as you have a much better PC than me and you are still having issues.

Oh it's going to be a blast when you get to the swamps. Framerate drops galore.

Wierd, I never had any big performance issues with The Witcher.

Dont have the best graphics card, but do rock a Quadcore.

I don't have any problems with the game, since I know the game doesn't have to be flat-out maxed-out to look good.:)

I just got there. I want to punch every single reviewer that gave amazing reviews to this game in the face, it's good but I can't even run it properly on a PC that can run Crysis, Metro 2033 and Just Cause 2 on max settings (The same deal with Cryostasis, Oblivion and Lost Planet). I will finish the game but man, PC developers need to start optimizing their games before releasing them and before making me download 3 GB of patches to run it.

Hmm.. I think the witcher is one of "those" games, that dislikes certain pieces of hardware, Ive playied in max ever since I got it, the EE running better then standard but that is just about it.

Never had hiccups, or framerage issues, not a freeze or anything of the like.

but that is not to say the issues does not exist, but they seem to be REALLY random, 2 identical pcs run the game so differently... Im not sure what can help with it...

v-sync off might be worth trying, and if its the steam version, evaluate file cache, and defrag, otherwise There aint alot I can think of that might help :\

I have one of the side adventures open in the Enhanced Edition. I usually got upper 30's to low 50's. I didn't notice any micro-pauses:

I did notice that the framerates were in the teens when I first started the adventure. But, as soon as I was done talking to the first NPC, the framerates picked up. Glitch perhaps? Definitely no stuttering or micro-pauses.

With my rig it plays fine apart from some very small noticable lag while you are in the city.

Take down moving shadows, v-sync, and whatever that setting is called that makes everything really detailed in the far distance. Makes a huge difference.

it runs fine, they spent more time making an awesome game than worrying about framerates staying high all the time. Its an rpg, so if the framerate dips to 30 fps in places its no biggie.
