a PC gamer. My reasons are I am simply becoming bored with console gaming. It just seems like the games that I play on console I can play on PC and they are usually better because of user content, add ons and other things. My issue is the fact that PC gaming is so foreign to me with the whole mouse and keyboard setup, I am afraid I will spend months just trying to come to grips with the new control scheme that I will become frustrated and just go back to console out of comfort. Any suggestions out there to help me ease into PC gaming. I am planning on getting Borderlands, CoD MW 2 and Dragon Age on PC. I have purchased Orange Box and CS Source from Steam already.

Ultimately it's worth it. Not going to lie, you're going to get owned a lot having used inferior input devices (controllers) but over time you will find the keyboard and mouse to be second nature and an overall enriching part of PC gaming. I strongly suggest you diversify your gaming selection - because if you switch to PC gaming just to play CoD2/other sh!tty console ports you're going to miss out on what truly sets PC gaming above consoles; i.e. modding and community driven projects. Try out PC-only shooters like STALKER, or RTS games like CoH, Warcraft 3 and research -> play the mods for those games. Having done that you will realize just how much there is to PC gaming other than simply the superiority of the mouse and keyboard.

There are so many games to try that you will find amazing.
I built a core i7 with a GTX295 and I have not looked back since.
It all depends on what you like to be honest but I am playing Stalker with the 2009 complete MOD,
the witcher,
burnout paradise which does not have as many people playing online but when you see at at 1920x1200 resolution and all settings max you will be amazed,
Batman arkham asylum all settings maxed with PHYSX on,
Arma 2,
Half life 2, epidode 1 and 2 with the Fakefactory cinematic mod 10,
team fortress 2,
I could go on but trust me you will be amazed.

Get crysis and crysis warhead also.
You can pick PC games up dirtcheap also.
But experiment and don't be afraid to try some of the old ones.
Also try the mods that people make too, they can totally transform a game for the better and also fix what the developers could not be bothered fixing.
Try counterstike source on STEAM for a great game.Although these games don't look that good in screenshots, when playing at 1920x1200 with all settings as high as they will go puts modern console games to shame.
And definately buy battlefield 2 complete, you will get it for about £10,
32 player free online on dedicated servers with every possible vehicle you can play.

Be very careful as PC gaming can be very addictive in that it can draw you into the whole world of PC gaming, I got rid of my XBOX 360 and invested in a corei7 920 with a ATI 4870.

Within3 months I had my corei7 overclocked to 3.6GHz under watercooling,my 4870 upgraded to a GTX295, my case is now a blue neon with UV lighting and UV tubing and I now have a razer keyboard and mouse.

Console gaming was a simple pastime to amuse myself for a few hours a week but PC gaming became an extremely interesting hobby to me.

That for me is the whole difference between console and PC gaming, don't let the whole console VS PC gaming thing put you off.

Anybody who thinks there are console games that rival the graphics and scope of games like crysis lives in a dreamworld.

There is no contest between the two.

What custom ones can you recommend.

I just bought CSS on steam and cannot believe I never got it sooner.

It's even better that COD4.

Yea Halflife 2 and even The Orange Box would be an awesome purchase.

an online shooter like TF2 is quite accessible really to a new player.

Get the unreal tournament 2004 demo and start practicing with the bots. That game focuses primarily on aim and precision with a mouse.

M&K isn't really that hard honestly. I used to use the arrow keys as I thought WASD would be hard, but I started using it and haven't looked back since. Didn't take a lot of time to get the hang of, and it made my gaming experience a lot better.

Its not really the WASD or mouse that gives me alot of trouble, its the 10-12 other keys for things like inventory, crouching, jumping, etc. I mean I only have so many fingers!!
