So yeah, I wanna build a gaming rig, I am just gonna buy parts over time.

To those who built there own rigs: how did you do it. Also, where can I get the best prices? (does newegg ship to the UK?)

Thanks.

Note: Ignore my signature, it's just a joke.

afraid they do not however there are UK based sites out there dont know them sorry.

heres my advice work on the essentials and build on them (mobo, cpu first, then power supply and memory, then GPU & case) for example. but plan for the price of what u want to drop and what u need to disappear. having products drop off the radar due can set u back time to find an alternative.

For the UK I highly recommend (as I frequently use) any of the following: - www.meshcomputers.com - www.overclockers.co.uk - www.dabs.com - www.pcspecialist.co.uk - www.scan.co.uk All reliable, great prices and.. well.. best for the UK me thinks

- www.dabs.com GenTom

Totally vouch for them, the only place i get my gear from.

As for building a PC, check online at places like:

http://www.buildyourown.org.uk/pc-building/

http://www.buildeasypc.com/
http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/

If you need some advice then you can always go to a local computer store (not a chain!) and ask them for advice on what to get and what goes with what (if you do its polite to get something from them whilst your there)

I haven't doen a *ton* of price comparison and shopping, but I used package deals I got on NewEgg and built the system in my signature below for only $3200ish, which was far less than if I bought a prebuilt with the same specs.

I'm in awe at your rig heh, this coming from someone with a 4870x2 and an e8400. Hope you have a nice 24" or bigger monitor to show that beast off! Although still not sure I can let you get away without mentioning... isn't the extreme I7 about 3-4x the price of the 920? IF so... WHY!!?!?!? lol

my best advice i can give to you is to...

buy a nice LCD, Keyboard, and Mouse you can use in future builds (and maybe speakers too).

newegg has some of the lowest prices, not the lowest but they have a good reputation.

i suggest u build a i7 rig AND buy a nice lcd, keyboard, and mouse if u got the cash.

if u dont have enough cash build a core 2 duo system.

tomshardware.com builds 3 pcs every month, and overclocks them.

follow the link and look in the "build your own section"
