Ditch the wireless card, there's no way in hell I'd recommend running wireless on a gaming computer.

The Q9300 is also a poor choice if you ask me. I'd either opt for the cheaper Q6600 or E8400 or try to stretch things to the Q9450.

The P35 chipset is a bit outdated as well, I'd kick it up to P45. It's a bit more expensive, but I'd say PCI-e 2.0 is worth it.

I'd probably opt for a cheaper case given the budget as well, and perhaps even ditch the keyboard.

I'd also definitely want an aftermarket CPU cooler and me being me, I'd shoot for a sound card as well.

i was thinking about the q6600 so i will prob switch to that, the case is only 80 bucks after rebate, im not planning on extremely overclocking the q6600 and i thhink ill be fine with the stock cooler, could u recommend a cheap p45 board, and a cheap sound card as well?? also i need the wireless card cause im close to the router so single is good but i can run a wire because it would have to be run across the middle of floor

The P5Q has a terrible layout - the 24-pin connector is right in the middle of the board, which is bad for trying to keep cables clear to help airflow. I'd go ahead and pick up the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L.

If you're not overclocking, I'd actually recommend you get the E8400 instead of the Q6600. It'll give you better performance in every game I can think of, and that will likely remain true for quite some time to come.

As for sound cards, there's nothing really cheap I can think of that I'd really say is worth it. Probably wishful thinking on my part - you could cut back the case, keyboard, and get rid of the wireless card and probably be able to afford something like the ASUS Xonar DX, but that's up to you.

And DDR2 800 RAM will be fine - DDR2 1200 is the max speed supported, it's far from necessary.

I don't trust Newegg reviews much. People never list their components, nor generally seem to have any idea what's going on. One guy said he got a BSOD in his BIOS, which is impossible since a BSOD is an error tied to Windows and is not used on the ROM chip that contains the BIOS. I'd definitely get the latest version of the BIOS as soon as possible (probably even before installing Windows). I've used Gigabyte for years, and they haven't seriously let me down yet.

You can get a 22" monitor for $200 and a larger HDD for pennies more.

If you don't plan on overclocking a lot, it would be a better idea to get the higher clocked and cheaper E8400.

That 900 case seems a little overpriced. Look at the Antec 300, Coolermaster RC 590 or RC 690.

The Asus HD4870 comes with a software to control the fan speed, so you wouldn't have to use the fan fix.

i no but i dont want a dual core would rather have a quad that if i needed the extra speed i could overclock it and if not i wouldnt need to the antec case is overpriced i no that but it has a 40 dollar mail in rebate, so its only 80 bucks so its pretty cheap and free shipping, and i can edit the fan speed manualy so when i but it i will just get the cheapest one currently avaiable,
