I just hate all that clicking buttons on spell crap over and over again and having all that range stuff on melee combat, so when your fighting hand to hand you can be punching air but still do damage which looks weird and stupid. It's much better on Dark Messiah which is a multiplayer fantasy FPS where it's all twitch/skill based on the user and melee classes actually have to be right up ur arse to do any damage lol. Also whats great about it is every class is very overpowered making it easier to balance because we've all got stupidly overpowered weapons and it works sooo well.

They need to ditch theEverQuest crappy no skill combat style and move onto this. They complain that lag will be a problem in a game of this type but..

1. You can have instanced arenas like WOW or DAOC.
2. I played Planetside which is a mmoFPS and no lag what so ever.

Anyways here's 2 videos of what it's like and BTW i SUCK!!!!

1. But that means no World PvP, which sucks, because that's easily the most fun type of PvP.

2. Melee combat is much harder to do than ranged/shooter combat in an online game. Movement and actions are going to be more frequent, which means more information has to be passed between the server and the users, so you'll need even faster connections for everyone to keep up.

I'm really just playing the devil's advocate here. I'd love to see twitch based combat in MMOGs, but lag still is an issue, and until the majority of people are running 6Mb cable connections, and developers/publishers can afford to provide more bandwidth, it probably won't happen.

Oh please, you mean getting to the max level, then roaming around the world killing players 50 levels under you, proving you have zero skill? Yeah, that's so much better than you facing off against an equal amount of enemy players (same level) in an arena.

Also, in world PvP you can gank other players as they're attacking a mob...clearly stating that you have no skill if you do so, because it wouldn't be a fair fight. World PvP is overrated.

Yes, and trust me that feels fun...Then they bring friends and stuff happens.

World PVP is indeed the best pvp, BG pvp(in WoW) and arena PVP are all about cookie cutter combinations and no proof of skill whatsoever either.PVP in mmorpgs currently out is not skill based doesn't matter which type.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about .

World PvP is fun, because its spontaneous, and the player has more control over it. Go play EVE Online and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Hell even when I was playing WoW, the most fun with PvP I ever had was when you'd end up with a 40 or 50 level 60s in Hillsbrad fighting to try and raid Southshore/Terran Mill.

I never said no world PVP i'm just saying you could do a mix of both. Planetside is full world PVP with battles back in the day that i played it of like 1000 people with no lag.

I guess I'm more of an FPS player where everything is fair (for the most part). Attacking someone lower leveled than you (to hte point where it's a one sided fight) proves you have no skill in gaming.

What your asking is impossible with our current Internet Technology.

Melee Realtime Combat in an MMO is not doable because of Lag Issues. There is way more movement involved for multiple PC's and a Server to Handle every single calculation.

It then also gets into the fact of Crap Fighting, Go play Dark Messiah online or Jedi Academy and only use Melee Weapons. Lag is Everything and so is Movement. Your running in Circles Trying out outping your oponent to get that extra attack in.

Im not going to play an MMO if I have to constantly move around in a circle with my sword drawn and Jumping all over a 10meter area just to avoid getting hit, That game would be a complete piece of crap.

Meanwhile Go and actually play RvR in Dark Age of Camelot. Youll think every other MMO PVP is complete Crap with how they have revamped it over the years DAoC is unbeatable in PvP.

I didn't like DAOC and the only mmorpgs i played for awhile were EVE Online and SWG because they offered something different compared to the boring level grinds of everyother boring mmorpg.

skullheart, the world pvp people are talking about is with a fair level range, like a 42 ganking a 40. Stop issuing out the statement that fps combat is supreme because you have no grounds to prove it. Infact I think shooting someone square in the head in CS while the target is busy shooting at someone else is more unfair than ganking someone in WoW (just for example) while the target is attacking a mob, shut it buddy

To topic creater:

Darkfall, a new MMO which is currently in development will have similar pvp combat and it will be skill based (gear and character skills won't play a big role in determining the winner).

So are you going to actually address what I said, or are you just going to keep talking about something that no else is arguing about?

I agree, ganking a player that is 30 levels below you is lame and unfair. But that's not what I'm talking about when I say that world PvP is better than arena PvP.

Whoa you take skill way too seriously? is everyone equally skilled in real life? no? Did the US/EU troops in Iraq give the slightest damn that thier technology was far great? no?

Skill with even equipment and so on is nothing special, MMORPGs are about being stronger than others aswell as skill thats something you have to accept or go play Guild Wars the most repetitive MMO in existance.

I've made it work for me in Warcraft, and I won't have you tell me how to ****in' play my games, thank you. There is no skill in attacking a player 10 levels below you (at least), or if there's just simply an unfair advantage. World PvP is overrated for that matter because it's all about who has the upper advantage and who doesn't. I believe in a PvP system that's fair. Not perfect, but fair enough. Know what i call it? Warhammer Online.

The point in attacking lowbys is to catch the attention of the higher levels, or to have a swarm of lowbys kill you, its an intersting change from monster grinding and can be quite fun.

God I grew so tired of people on WoW whining about the overated word that is "skill" ... if your dead then I'm alive, I win whatever the damn situation ... ok reapetedly killing lowbys isnt very fair but there are plenty of ways to dodge it normally.
