Ok, I do not know how many people pirate games but those who do pirate games cannot (correct me if I am wrong) play them via multiplayer without a valid cd key. Furthermore for the educated know and to the uneducated this is how the gaming world works. Without PC hardware sales there would be none to little of a gaming console world. ALL of the next-gen consoles including Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 have either AMD/ATI or Nvidia video processor. Those two big companies rely on PC sales of their hardware to further their business. The consoles that they develop for are like experimental technology that out dates it self usually inside a year or two. So to all of the wonderful game developers that will not develop on the PC because of piracy issues or what have you, get over yourselves and realize that the PC gaming world is not full of torrents. Also GAMES DO NOT RUN ON INTEL GMA's!!!!!!!!!!!(for the 80%+ percent of people that are stuck gaming on those.)

And did Godfather 2 and those other games not appera first on Xbox? I pretty much doubt that these days the first pirated/leaked\downloaded version of a game is the PC version. Piracy is everywhere, if you're trying to prove something about PC with that statement, then don't bother, because if you were careful, some time ago, a few games were released almost a month sooner than they were supposed to, on Xbox.

That's pretty much irrelevant, since that's not something that occurs exclusively to PC games. All you need is some guy in the factory where they make the discs or a guy in a distribution center to leak one copy to a scene release group to get a game out so it's not like this can't be done with console games either.

Wow that was difficult to read. I'm not sure I quite grasp the message you were trying to send.

True. But in order to play a pirated console game you need a modded console (as far as I understand). Most people won't bother modding their console for fear of bricking it.

I know that PC game piracy is an issue, but its way less in America than it is in India. I don't know if that means anything, but in India its easier to get a pirated game in stores than an original game.

So its not as bad in America and developers need to consider that.

And? Yeah, PS3 isn't cracked yet, and it probably won't, who would download 20gb + for a game?

Still I don't know where you're going, you said how much Godfather 2 is pirated on PC and it's not only on PC and it probably wasn't out on PC when it first appeared on torrents and now you're saying PS3?

Piracy is EVERYWHERE, PS 3 is an exception, but PS 3 isn't the movie industry, audio, PC games, Wii games, DS games, PSP games, PS1/PS2 games, Xbox games, etc.

Piracy is everywhere, but it is certainly more prevalent on the PC, and it is certainly easiest as well. And due to the nature of the PC Gaming Industry, it seems to have a greater effect as well.

Most people still have computers and use them for other things besides gaming, so new hardware is still going to be developed all the time.

I have a PS3 and I updated my PC about two months ago to a gaming machine. It is kind of upsetting though (maybe upsetting is too strong a word) because every since I upgraded the only *new* game I've got for my PC is Crysis. The game is great and plays perfectly on my PC, but...that game came out in 2007...

What I'm trying to say is that all the other games I have bought are for my PS3. The games I play most on my PC are probably CSS, Day of Defeat, and Crysis.

Two of those games are five years old! AND, I just installed UT2004 on my PC again. The only reason is because I got UT3 for PS3 as it was an early exclusive and I love the franchise and I left that copy at my house haha.

The last time I upgraded my computer, maybe in 2004 when HL2 came out, I was in heaven, experiencing all the new and beautiful graphics and great games. However, this time around, I find myself basically playing those same games, just with ridiculous frame rates.

All the other games I play are on my PS3. I truly love the thing, but I would like to love my PC as well, just for different reasons (i.e. different games). So I agree with the post, let the consoles have their own great games, and let the pc have its own great games too.

I'm not exactly sure why you addressed your post to developers, considering the fact that no one who works for a big name computer game developer will ever see this post. Even if they did, they would not take it seriously. I know I'm being harsh, but that's the God's honest truth.

Ok,

Well thanks for all the responses to my posting. Ok so I know that games for all systems with the exception of the PS3(partially because of the cell and partially because of the blu-ray discs) get pirated like I believe it was bioshock for the xbox 360 had a large batch of pirated copies before release. My point is not to say that the consoles do not suffer to but to say that developers should not discriminate against the PC game market, when given that piracy is just as huge a problem on the console side. I would just like to see the PC game market continue to grow other then MMO's. For example Gears of War for PC ported beautifully to the PC and even showed off at E3 a year or so ago, but Gears of War 2 will not be ported because Epic game studios is afraid of piracy now?

So I guess my point is that its not that consoles dont get piracy or that it is not an issue, it is that the PC game platform should not be discriminated against by developers.

Wow that was difficult to read. I'm not sure I quite grasp the message you were trying to send.

FYI: You can play online with pirated games. It's just not easy.

AustXilo

FYI: Only on crappy private servers.

I wonder if the people who are so anti game piracy are the ones who use Limewire for their music.

It is probably as easy as Hamachi; I use it occasionally for Median (Diablo II mod so playing on bnet is out of the question).
