It's another COD but they have changed a lot actually this time around.

The whole exo suit adds another layer of new type of gameplay for the franchise (very similar to Titanfall).

Engine works fine, and they have patched the lag problems that were at launch.

In summary, a very good COD in the series.

Game was horribly put together. It held true for every major issue I had with the previous games. Literally everyone of them. Nothing has changed but the mesh of the shit you see, everything else is straight pulled out of COD4. Which is not except-able form one of the highest profiting games of all time.

Good example of how shit it was on pc. The videos in between missions in the loading screen had it's sound sink up with the action on screen a total of two times. Keven spacey doesn't hold as much weight when he's 6 seconds behind his dialogue.

Engine ran fine for me all the way through the campaign, and works fine in MP (some hiccups here and there).

As for the audio sync problem, there's a fix for it.

The single player campaign was very linear and scripted and didn't do anything new. I expected more from the Dead Space guys. It was an alright campaign, but ultimately disappointing. Some MP games are laggy and the game just doesn't feel smooth even though I never drop below 90 fps. It is rather annoying as BF4 and TitanFall are super smooth. Also, this game no longer feels like a COD game and has turned into Halo. Lots of jumping around in small environments with people spawning everywhere. It is basically Halo with real world weapons. With all the jumping and such, I honestly feel COD:AW is an inferior game to TitanFall. It seems COD is no longer COD. I have always been more of a BF guy myself because it feels like an actual battle as opposed to an arena shooter.

Derivative, even with the exo suit. The single player campaign is probably the worst of the series because all it does is repeat everything you've seen in any other call of duty game. Story yawn, dialogue hah.

Exo suit makes the mp faster and crazy. Sniping is dead, shotguns are horrid, ttk is pretty short. Balance is not up to scratch for a CoD game imo. Most of the scorestreaks suck to use. Maps are alright but again heavily based on previous games. It's like they tried their hardest to make it just like previous games even though the exo suit should have taken them to different places. Player numbers are less than ghosts and already dwindling. Never got into a CTF game or SnD. Not a big deal because I love domination the most anyway. Kill confirmed is actually more fun n this game than others because of the suit and tags being left in the air.

no matter how much they change, i will never touch another cod as long as they cheap out on servers and stick to p2p, there's no excuse for that except to make it last less time on your 'shelf'

I actually quite like it, It's a lot more fun than I was expecting. Though I'm having trouble with the P2P rubbish, I can't connect to any of my friends.

Its not as big of a improvement as a lot of reviews are making it out to be. The double jump is the only real change and it only takes the game so far, especially in the campaign when you can't even use it most of the time. So far there has only been like one good mission in the campaign where you are in Detroit, the rest have been pretty forgettable. Struggling to find the will to continue.

To their credit Sledgehammer have fixed a lot of the launch issues with the PC version though laggy matches are still common and the gameplay is still shallow enough that I get bored of it very quickly. I do appreciate that they have improved the weapon sounds, and the map design is much better than MW3, the last game CoD Sledgehammer was involved in.

I had a much better time with Titanfall to be honest, bigger maps and more varied gameplay.

Huh?

What about side dodge?

What about backwards dodge?

What about mid-air dodge?

What about Air Slam?

What about hover?

What about cloaking?

What about Exo Suit Abilities like Overcloak?

What about Pick 13 on everything now?

What about customization on scorestreaks?

And a few other things I can't remember.

those are all very small changes in practice. The actual moment to moment gameplay is very similar to how its always been, similar to the kind of iterative changes we have had between CoD games in the past.

I have no interest in cod anymore. They should release them every 5 years or so instead of every year, i couldn't care less about any of them at this point.

They are all changes, and the sum of them all makes AW quite a bit different from other CODs. Just the whole aspect of verticality adds a new layer of gameplay. Big difference between iterative changes in the past and complete gameplay changes for movement and abilities.

It's just that there are 3 companies creating them, so we get yearly releases. Sledgehammer worked on AW for 3 years.

Sadly, it doesn't show. The extra year of development and it is still the same COD campaign and some changes to MP movement that changes the dynamic of matches, but nothing special.

Yes, COD is still going to have guns and still be an arena shooter, but you have to admit when changes are implemented that actually change things.

Blops2 had RTS and choose your own path mechanics, yet everyone said "same COD"

This one lets you fly through the air, dodge incoming bullets, fly jets, go invisible but "same COD, nothing special"

What do the developers have to do to make it different? Convert it to a point and click adventure?

Sounds like you just described TitanFall. That is part of the problem. The changes to the game are pulled from other games. I am not a big fan of COD, but they really hyped AW as the game that was going to be different. It is disappointing when you pick up the game and realize that not much has changed. It is not a bad game, but it is not great either. BF is superior to it in pretty much every way. I think this will be the last year where they generate the big buzz without actually making major changes. Franchise Fatigue has settled in for most and they are going to have trouble pulling in new players.

Advanced Warfare was in production long before Titanfall, it's just that Titanfall beat COD to the punch (that's why Titanfall is only MP while Advanced Warfare has MP, SP and Co-op). As for "changes pulled from other games", please name me a game that doesn't grab inspiration/ideas/mechanics from other games. There isn't one.

And the marketing was correct, AW IS different to other CODs (keywords: to other CODs). I'm not comparing AW to anything else, just to the CODs before it since it was marketed as that.

On the subject of comparison, I'm sick and tired of people comparing Call of Duty with Battlefield. They are completely different games with the only similarity is that you shoot things with guns in both.

COD has to compete against other games. So, regardless if things are new to COD, they are not new to gamers. The COD:AW package is just so similar to TitanFall, you can't help but feel like it rips it off. COD will always be compared to BF because they are the two mainstream military shooters. BF is far superior IMO. In the end, there are too many COD games. We do not need a game every year. I don't know how much longer the series will be dominant without major changes. The follow and shoot gameplay needs to evolve. I feel like I am still just playing COD4:MW (2007) with each new release. If the COD series ceased to exist, I think the industry would be better as a whole. These annual cookie cutter releases aren't "cutting it" anymore.

Well.... http://charlieintel.com/2014/11/10/advanced-warfares-week-1-sales-beat-titanfall-destiny-and-wolfenstein-week-1-sales-combined-in-the-uk/

I agree though the whole series was getting stale, but AW HAS changed quite a bit (or at least tried to).

No idea where it will go from here though.

I like it a lot but ditched the PC and went to PS4. Cost to much to keep upgrading PC then you have people who are running min specs and think they can crank visuals up and than they can't even play good. Much better game play when everyone is running at about the same frame rate. PC is getting close to being a dead path to gaming.

I'm actually enjoying this call of duty. This is the first one in the franchise to surprise me since COD4.
