As a PC gamer, we essentially pay thousands of dollars for what? 60-100 FPS and console graphics? Then get shafted by game developers and publishers? Crytek, shafting their own kind. My most recent bitterness, and hatred comes from Ryse: Son of Rome being an Xbox ONE exclusive. That to me is the ultimate slap in the face by Crytek. I'm a firm believer that if it were not for PC Crytek would be nothing, and I honestly think that every one of their titles should be on PC. What gives? Why the hell do we pay so much just to get shafted every time a new console comes out?

And before you guys tell me to play a console instead of PC to solve my obvious discontent, I'd rather quit gaming than buy a console opposed to my PC. The point is, I'm just sick of it. Why are all the good games going to consoles only? Why are original PC developers abandoning the same ship they found their riches on?

Gaming is a business and companies act as they see fit. Money runs everything. They're not out to just please you.

How can this not be serious? You must have consoles on the side. I understand it's a business, but I think as a company you have the ultimate decision to either accept that business offer, or respectfully decline. There is a clear show of disrespect by Crytek by ignoring PC with the new game. They could have told EA or Microsoft "We will not make it an Xbox ONE exclusive, we will release it to PC as well" Since you know, the PC is how they got their foot in the door.

Microsoft and SONY pay huge amounts of cash to ensure they get exclusives.  Yes, it's total BS but it's unfortunately the nature of the beast. Like you, I would rather drill a hole in my head and let the bad spirits out than buy a console but, with that said, 99.9% of these console "exclusives" don't really interest me anyhow.  I don't feel that I have missed anything not owning a console.

I understand what OP is trying to say. Look at Valve, they got respect from PC gamer and thus they earn millions of profit per year.

But unfortunately, most of the video game publishers don't give **** about respect especially the ones that are owned by share-holder like EA and Ubisoft.

You have a point. I for one would really like to play Quantum Break on PC because I have played all Remedy games on PC.

Thing is games like Ryse, Quantum Break and Dead Rising are exclusive to Xbox One soley because MS pays millions of dollars to keep them exclusive. There is not a single company that does that for PC because no company owns PC gaming and that is actually a good thing. It's not because developers like Xbox One more, it's because they signed an exclusive deal.

edit: Besides, give it a few years and Xbox One won't be getting any exclusives anymore while PC will get new exclusives all the time. The same thing happened with 360. I bought one because it was way cheaper than upgrading my PC at the time and it offered amazing graphics and exclusives for less. A few years later I regretted that decision and got back into PC gaming, my 360 has been catching dust for a while while PC keeps getting new games.

1. No company owes us anything stop feeling so entitled. Well almost no company, the ones whose projects we crowdfunded owe us our games :D
2. Ryse looks like garbage anyway.

I'm getting a console for the console games I want to play...as for PC games I don't think there has ever been a better time to be a PC gamer. So many awesome games coming out especially in the indie/old school/tbs rpg/etc genres. In other words, I'm pretty happy :)

I have zero consoles. In fact, the PC library dwarfs all consoles combined.  Also, crytek is a fvcking joke regardless of what they do.  I don't act entiltled to every game release on PC.  it's like two farmers live next to each other, one has 100 sheep, one has five.  The guy with more sheep goes over and complains to the other guy because he has five sheep and steals and kills them because he can't have them all.  It IS a business, and their decision was to go with the lucrative console market.  Good for them, they don't cater to your needs.

Your innuedo's regarding the world in general really disgust me. I know you think you're making an intelligent point by coming up with this elaborate scenario in your head, but really, you're just an antagonistic troll who has gotten his rocks off jumping on every one of my posts with your dimwitted insults. I'm tired you, and you bore me to tears. Go achieve your erection on someone elses behalf.

Back to my original point. Yes, as a devoted Crytek supporter I do feel a sense of entitlement. The PC is where they started, to deliberately ignore us the moment they released a multiplat game is extremely insulting. Until now, I stayed away from constantly bashing Crytek. Ryse looked really good, and would have provided a somewhat unique experience to PC gamers, considering we don't get to play games from the likes of God of War. I think it could have done well, now I hope it does abysmal. Besides, it seems like a bad business decision considering Microsofts new marketing techniques include rude cynical remarks directed towards their fanbase. PS4 is the victor, and hopefully puts Xbox to shame.

PC gamers didn't do anything for Crytek. They made a game. People bought it. That was the extent of their obligation. I don't expect a waiter to tuck me in at night after leaving the restaurant. I don't expect Crytek to cater all their future products for me just because I bought their first few games.

That's my issue. I'm not made of money, and I'm not simply going to go out and buy a console for 1 or 2 games in hopes that they MIGHT be good. Not only would I be taking a gamble on the game, but on the console. Could turn out to be a giant waste of 600 dollars. Definitely not interested in seeing if that pans out. Besides, I hate controllers.

I think the vast majority here, including you more than likely agree with me but can't resist an obvious invitation to an argument.

Exclusives are not good for gaming, they have and will continue to divide the gaming industry. If you can't see that, you can't see colors.

I think the problem is simply your outlook on life and how you view things...so cynical and negative. I mean, it could also be a $600 awesome addition to your PC right? You could even wait a year to see if there's enough games on the system to warrant a purchase?

Anyways, reading your posts is kinda like looking into a small angry world.  The amount of tangible anger and undue entitlement in your posts over what is ultimately simple entertainment choices is absolutely insane.

Switch to consoles then, I'm sure you won't miss the PC. People who do their own research about games however can't find enough time to finish half of their Steam library.

I'm wary of any of Crytek's output after the disappointment of Crysis 3.

I can do anything I want with a PC. I'm finding a lot of good indie games out there that might not otherwise be available in the walled off console garden.

Console exclusives are a minority...I can manage.

even if we get multiplats of the quality of Last Light, PC gaming is worth it. Not to mention the flexability of the platform.

Crytek sucks now anyways, Crysis is in a downward spiral and they have never been good at anything other than sandbox shooters and game engines.

i'll take the support and innovation of the legions of indie devs pouring out great games onto the likes of steam and GoG over a handful of devs concerned about attracting the 'call of duty crowd' any day of the week.

What do you expect? They want to make money and there isn't enough money in the PC gaming sphere to release PC only big budget games like Crysis and Ryse or even Call of Duty and Battlefield for that matter.

Companies have one goal - success and therefore, a good financial standing. This is a universal law which aplies for every firm (charity and so forth organizations are not included in this of course).

Seeing as consoles are made with one purpose only - gaming, developers relocate their "interest" towards them. "Customer focus" was what created them years ago, greed is what drives them today in order to receive their fat check tomorrow. It's as simple as that ... and with the major trash publishers buying up decent developers, you really don't have a choice but to adapt to the flow ... either sink or swim.

PCs can, on the other hand, are bought with other purposes, gaming not being the major one, thus it is not viewed as a priority for developers/publishers nowadays, especially with piracy and so forth, though the publishers themselves are quite responsible for this and have a significant slice of the "guilty" pie.

If you're so sick of it, give it up. Go be a console gamer. The rest of us will continue to enjoy a far better gaming experience, using reasonable PCs, that don't cost "thousands of dollars", because top of the line hardware is, and always has been, overkill. And those of us who have the money, and want the little improvements, might still buy top of the line hardware, and fancy peripherals and whatnot, for an  even better  gaming experience.

Pretty sure we're not getting the shaft.

While a lot of indie games out there are trash, there are a lot of good ones too. Even then, I think anything is preferable over the coverbased shooter with health regen, excessive bloom, lack of colour, 2-4 weapon rules, no enemy variety, no depth, no alternate routes, excessive scripting and use of set pieces, no rewarding of skill, boring weapons, awful level design trash that the majority of AAA shooters have (d)evolved into.

There's not many clever minds in the gaming business anymore. People can keep QQ'ing about consoles but the fact is the people behind the gamez are either black suits or dumbasses. Even Blizzard can't creare AAA PC games anymore, why is this? not because of consoles.. they've just lost a s**** load of talent. I have found an alternate hobby, after being a PC gamer for a long time since I was 11 I grew up with games which made people think and made my mind reach super intellectual properties. Now days though it's all about the production values. I am playing TLOU at the moment and it's same S))) as Bioshock INficrap, 96 Metacritic for an interactive movie and a waste of $65 going to sell this crap on ebay.

I disagree, most indie games suck donkey scrotum.

Good, stick with the brain-dead, so-called, AAA crap (E3 rocked, brah!) with the rest of the mouth-breathers.  Nobody is going to miss you.

I'll have fun playing both indie and major publisher games while you guys can keep bitching about one or the other. Sounds likes win-win.

Ryse looks bad Nobody pays for PC exclusives. Sony and MS have huge money sacks they just throw at developers and tell them to make their game exclusive Crytek jumped when they saw Call of Dooty sell 50 quadrillion copies and assumed they could do the same if they went multiplat. Didn't turn out anywhere near what they hoped and now they are taking money from MS to keep going.

PC gamers getting the shaft? What is this.... I don't even........? LOL. I must laugh. Only if you bought Alienware and even then you're still better off than having purchased an xbox 360 unless you're into exclusives.

Sadly, when modern games hold our hands too much, try their hardest being cool and cinematic, spoonfeed us our success, tell us how "great" we are and add elements that we didnt ask for (tacking on RPG elements onto everything, especially mp), gaming just isnt very enjoyable. There is no tension, there is no challenge and there is just no sense of satisfaction for playing a lot of AAA games today. Now, there are a few exceptions of course but for most of the part it seems like AAA gaming has gone outside my sphere of interest, not that I am too upset though, indie and niche games keep my interest.

Honestly its jsut time for many of us to go to or back to consoles. I haven't picked one up since the gamecube launched but if the division doesn't get ported to the pc I think it's time for me to hop back on board...too many console exclusives I've missed through the years.

lol que? I didn't say I was going to quit pc gaming. But I'm just expressing the setiment many pc gamers have, whom have shown concern by the increasingly high volume of great console exclusive games that are coming out. For us, it's pretty much time to go back.

Pc's will have its nice exclusives and multi-plat versions, which I will play, as will the consoles, which I will also play.

Seriously whats with the false choice dilema going around.

As a PC gamer, we essentially pay thousands of dollars for what?

Why would any of us pay thousands of dollars for a PC?

60-100 FPS and console graphics?

I don't use a PC to play lousy console FPS ports.

My most recent bitterness, and hatred comes from Ryse: Son of Rome being an Xbox ONE exclusive. That to me is the ultimate slap in the face by Crytek.

Crytek has completely lost their mind, there is no reason to care about what they do anymore. They gave us Crysis, good for us, good for them, they don't owe us anything and with the mediocre games they have been making and constant idiocy they display every time they are mentioned in an news articles we shouldn't want anything to do with them. As for Ryse, I've seen posts and comments during live streams from at least five people who played it, none of them had a positive opinion of it.

i'll take the support and innovation of the legions of indie devs pouring out great games onto the likes of steam and GoG over a handful of devs concerned about attracting the 'call of duty crowd' any day of the week.

I agree with this.

When there comes a console game I want I have consoles for that, when there are PC games I want I have a PC for that.

Who cares if the PC don't get some games on consoles? It flows both ways. Heck. The first four games in my sig are PC-only. I buy consoles for sports games and the games not on the PC. If you want to play the games, you do what you have to do. If a game I wanted is only on a console, then I'll buy that console if the game is good enough.

What's this "Microsoft is paying them to keep the game on the Xbone" bullshit?

Microsoft is paying for the development of the game, not to keep it hostage. Ryse was in development hell since 2006 and Microsoft salvaged it a couple of years later. They didn't even have a working proof of concept when this happened, just the pitch.

For the record, the enemy health in the E3 demo was much reduced. The QTEs are finishers. You have the option to trigger them once the enemy health is depleted. You already won. If you trigger them but ignore the button presses, a less awesome animation is played and you don't get XP and health bonuses. The QTEs can be disabled.

They completely f*cked up the presentation by lowering the health and triggering so many finishers.
