Right now I keep going back and forth wondering if I want to build a new gaming rig or if I just want to buy a 360. I've been a gamer on both platforms since the mid 80's and I really only have money/time for one or the other.

I like RPGs and some shooters. I like some RTS games too. I live with my g/f, so half of the time I have to sacrifice the TV. With a gaming PC, I would never have to worry about that. With a 360, I could save some money and play on my couch. Both platforms have the same games pretty much, but it seems that lately developers are siding with consoles and neglecting PCs.

I really have no idea which I should get. Tomorrow I'll wake up and have my head set on a 360. The next day I'll have my head set on the rig I want to build. Can anyone make any suggestions or comments to help me stay on one side of the fence? Thanks!

Alot of the xbox live community is very young, I think your place is with the PC. The online games are alot better than on the 360, well at least most. Also, you can do much more with a strong PC than with an xbox 360. Btw, I have owned a gaming pc for 3 years and an xbox 360 since launch in 05

If you like RTS, go with the PC. In my opinion, the PC is also better for FPS, although it is arguable over RPGs (for all but mmo, probably the 360 is better, although I have not had much experience with RPGs on the computer).

You can probably build a pretty good gaming rig for $1000 or so (my friend did). On the other hand, that's a lot more expensive than an XBox360. But, remember that you can use the computer for other things.

More importantly, are you happy with your computer right now? As in, do you think you would want to get a new computer anytime soon anyway? If so, definitely go with the gaming rig. If not, it's tougher, but I strongly recommend PC gaming.

It also depends on whether or not you like cooperative modes and playing with friends. If you like to have friends over and play video games with them, go with the 360. If you prefer single player or something like Xbox live (without friends around), I would recommend the computer. Again, though, it's an additional 500-700 dollars minimum, so it's a significant investment.

The PC board isn't the best place to ask this sort of question, becuase you're going to get biased answers towards the PC, and the same is going to happen if you post this same question (worded differently of course) in the 360 board.

So System Wars would be the place to ask this question. :)
