Wasn't that only with the "Next Generation" Graphical options though?

The cutscenes look like they've really improved!

I think it will run similar to legend, it should have better graphics than legend's next gen mode.

Looks like it has potential to be a big hit. Just as long as the game control mechanics aren't screwed up like in past TR games. . .

I read a little on it and it looks pretty cool, I have never played a tomb raider game, but if its good I might try it. I just got a xbox 360 controller so I could use that.

Yes definitely - on that note, they need to overhaul the combat entirely!

For PC they just need to make the combat like Max Payne, make lara a bit more nimble, doing her gymnastic routine. I don't really think lock on for both camera and crosshair is needed for PC users with mouse. Plus it gets kinda annoying if you just want to do a damn jump and get locked onto a jaguar or something.

Run and gun AND solve damn puzzles, AND jump ledges mind you. Unlimited ammo? You must've never played the games.

And yes, there are tons of people who enjoy this, so please, have some damn respect.

I liked the legend one better I guess. I loved it when she wears a dress and lets her hair go in one of the missions. Wow.

When not raiding tombs, it appears that Lara spends much of her time with her plastic surgeon.

Everyone thought that after Angel of darkness the Lady Lara Croft was dead. But ever since Eidos took the licence away from Core, the entire series was reborn. Legend was the best thing to happen to the series since it's inception. Underworld looks very promising. I'm counting the days...........

Yeah but some people would also argue that Legend in particular was too simple and easy compared to the other games.

There just has to be a balance with this new title - it could improve things a lot!

Added a new video showing some environments from Thailand. It looks very detailed and no I was not offered a bag of money to say that. They gave me a JB HI-FI voucher instead.

Im stoked about this game like no other. It'll be nice to actually i dunno....raid some TOMBS and not shoot a office building up or something techno driven.

Tomb Raider for me thrives on the isolation factor. More people, vehicles and hollywood flare ruin the experience for me. Id much rather feel like im all alone with nothing but my exploring skills and limited weaponary to keep me alive.

Not really. You are still physically isolated so the speelunking through a place that is as it was thousands of years ago is preserved. I just really dislike lots of "bad guys" in my tomb raider games.

I want it to be largely me against the environment and whatever lifeforms would inhabit said environments so the feel stays natural. Whatever human characters they need to make the story work is fine. Anyone past that is more than i want.

Well i absolutely loved the mechanics used in TR1. Very little human interaction, old dilapidated puzzles, ancient mystical beasts, natural wild life to fight etc etc etc all worked very well with the overall structure of what "raiding tombs" should be like.

If they can deliver a game with the same formula, updated moves, killer graphics, excellent sound, decent length and a plausible story that you can enjoy this will be the payout for all the people who have supported the franchise through its days of being nowhere near a tomb.

I am playing TR Anniversary right now and its pretty good so far, only the Camera sometimes wont let me see everything which bothers me, I hope they fix that in this one.

Will Underworld run similiar to Anniversary performance wise?

I suspect that Underworld will be fairly more demanding than Anniversary. But it would be foolish to expect otherwise.
Graphically it will look a lot better than Anniversary (which was apparently inferior to Legend. I still don't know why).

Anniversary is a fun game at times but horribly frustrating and repetitive at others. One of the lamest bits was having to shoot the T-Rex while he was stuck on the level geometry.

Might wanna add this Gameplay Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMPivNxGDUg

From the Screenshots it didnt look that much better than Anniversary but in the Video you can clearly see more shader stuff going on.

Thanks for that. I posted it up. Fairly standard TR gameplay there - looks like a bit more effort has been up into get the camera angles right though I am still concerned about the combat!

Ahem, yes excuse me good sir, are you going to be in there long? I'm afraid I have had a bad curry of sorts. Yes, well uhhh do hurry up in there. Maybe you had the salad instead.

I think next time we better get a better catering service for this Mega Thread.

Though I'm sure the DS people have something to do with this...I really thought thats what the letters DS stood for....yeesh...

Ohhhh down I go!

I just recently played my first TR game and really enjoyed it(Angel of Darkness),but as you say the combat definitely needed some work-drove me nuts when she started bouncing around.Right now I'm playing TR:2 and the combat is much better and the puzzles seem more challenging(just finished the Opera House). So I'm looking foreword to Underworld as well,I only hope my low end graphics card will run it-although it ran the demo of Anniversary just fine.

I hate to break it to you but Underworld is going to more demanding than the curry I just had. And thats saying something!

The combat from the video I just watched does not look like it has been improved. It still looks too chaotic with her bouncing around all over the place. I would hope Eidos Montreal guy didn't lie to me...though it may explain this outbreak of food poisoning...

I personally hold the combat/gunfights to be the least important part of the game. As long as they function and arent broken in some way (camera/controls etc etc ) i wont need much more than that.

I guess the combat in TR being subpar is for me in the same vein as the comedy being subpar in a drama or action movie.

I have to break it to you but you probably started with one of the worst Tomb Raider games there is, so things can only get better for you from here out. Next get Tomb Raider3(LOVED that game!), then skip all the way to Legend. The Lady Croft welcomes you.
