You have to ask yourselves this: How much does it actually cost to put an HDDVD player together? If it's only $50, they're making a hell of a profit.
Meh, some people will buy, doesnt mean the majority of people will, just means 'some' people will. Is that deal in the UK? And if it is, I have not noticed. Especially seeing as you can't get HDDVD in as many places as you can Bluray. Toshiba seriously needs its own shop if it intends to market its products better. At least with bluray I can pop into the nearby Sony shop and pick one up.
They must be desperate if they're doing that and paying off Paramount. But it's a pretty good gamble though. If only the HD-DVD's were themselves cheap too.

Well obviously there're no Toshiba stores, but I think most people who buy high def format discs usually go to places like Best Buy, Futureshop, online stores, etc., where both formats would be equally available. I don't think there's that much of a difference in the availability of the discs for you to buy. It's more of an issue of what movies you can get on what format.
