I play a lot of COD4 and Halo 3 and my friends that have head phones and surrond sound always do better than me. I am wondering if the Turtle beach ear force X3 head phones allow you to hear footsteps and other things like that. Are these head phones worth the price?CovertShadowsIt won't help you because the headphones don't feature surround sound. The Turtle Beach x4 does though. =)
hey, i own a pair of x3's right now, i think they are ok, but i am currently looking for a better one. sound quality is good for locating someone around you, and you can crank it up at night, unfortunately when it is quiet you can hear a faint hiss which annoys me beyond belief. make sure you google reviews on them before considering your purchase. i visited pax '08 yesterday though and i am currently contemplating a pair of astro a40s. the guy i spoke to was not very convincing or helpful, but the reviews i've seen have all been very positive. the cost is up there though, (250$) for the mixer and headset, but it is worth it to me, i am picky and i have to play at night usually.
www.astrogaming.com i think if you want to see what i'm seeing.
tritton and plantronics were also present at pax, but i felt the plantronics were too tight around my head, and would also get warm in even just short sessions. the tritton guy was the most convincing, he told me their headset was "true" 5.1 surround because there were 8 little speakers while the a40 was only simulated, but when i tried them out for myself on their cod4 demo, i couldn't really tell were things were coming from like i thought i could.
Sound is very important in competitive cod4. I play cal, and sound lets you hear people across the map and pinpoint their location. So I would say yes, it is worth it. I personally use the sennheiser hd555 headphones.dyproximy
i also wanted to say, i've heard great things about these headsets too.
