According to this source, two million people have signed up so far!:D
Were YOU one of them?! :o

I was one of them. Won't pay for the subscription portion when it comes out, but I don't mind trying to help Activision make the free part good enough.
Nope.
I've played one CoD game (CoD4 -- supposedly one of the "best" in the series) and hated it so I have no interest in anything CoD. I also don't buy games published by Activision anymore. I don't support swine.
I am kind of discouraged by the amount of people who signed up for this (notice I didn't say I was surprised). This kind of tiered, pay-to-play, multi-player is a slippery slope (as much as I loathe DLC this is so much worse). If this works out well, expect to start paying for more online games in the future.
I do wonder if people will ever grow tired of this industry's mounting avarice?
Nah, who am I kidding?
Nope not touched COD since number 4 and the likelihood of a subscription model being tacked on to the next COD makes me even less likely to bother with the game.
I signed up. Wanted to see what it was like. Probably won't buy MW3 until a good drop in price, though.
What the stupid? What is wrong with people. [facepalm] hell no I wasnt one of em. CoD is dead to me.According to this source, two million people have signed up so far!:D

Whats wrong if people want to try a free beta? I mean seriously. I think the posters that are complaining against this forget the fact that a beta is supposed to help make the end product better by getting the public involved, now of course activision can just go the complete other way and charge for what everyone likes the best...but thats a differenst story.

Insight - You have it. A lot of others don't.

But Elite isn't a pay-to-play multiplayer service.

Then what is it?
It's mass stat-tracking, map/player statistics, clan stuff(i don't know how to better describe that), tournaments, challenges, access to map packs, video editing, access to class-customization from phones, tablets, etc. And not all of it requires a subscription. The only two things that I've heard of that require a subscription are the map packs and some video series that hasn't been detailed yet. The stat-tracking, video editing, clans/groups, heat maps, and class customization is all free.
didn't sign up for beta and will not sign up for it when it debuts or any other subscription service,
but I'm definately gonna get codmw 3
It's included in the game, you'll have to sign up for it either way if you plan on joining multiplayer.didn't sign up for beta and will not sign up for it when it debuts or any other subscription service,
