I just noticed that R.U.S.E (the steam release at least) doesn't have Ubisofts perma online DRM... wonder if it's going to be like this for all their future releases.

we haven't seen the last of Ubisoft DRM, Ubisoft just delayed Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood PC version to Q1 2011 , i think they are putting a DRM in AC: Brotherhood guildclawsThis doesn't make sense, since the leash* DRM has been in use since Assassins Creed 2. New games since should have been made with the DRM in mind. This means that the delays (both AC1 and AC2 PC had similar delays) have absolutely nothing to do with implementation of any DRM. They're also presumably building off of the AC2 engine, so it can't be an optimization delay. Now, I'm only speculating here, but delaying the PC version of a game is a common practice used to mitigate piracy. I've read a quote somewhere from developer admitting as much. Wait a minute, wasn't the leash DRM supposed to fix that? Interesting, but only speculating. *not intended to criticise the DRM, I just think instead of typing longer descriptive phrases or Ubisoft's official but ambiguous "OSP", a "leash" is both simple and perfectly summarizes the basic mechanism of the DRM. Apologies for any misinterpretation of my intention.
