Everyone loves the original UT because it's so easy to get into. You have to force yourself to play UT2k4 for a while to adjust from the feelings of the original one. The 2k4 is better for it's complex mechanics and it has been balanced out. Gunfights have been drawn out a bit longer, but it works well and you still die easily. I miss easy headshots, but when playing with a lot of people, it really draws back.
Unreal 3 is looking really good, not sure how it'll play. The videos though were very nice.
[QUOTE="POJO_MOFO"]i agree with the Q3:ARENA>UT folksCubePrime_basic
care to explain why unless it's about "the feel" -_- ?
Quake 3 did have a different feel than UT - mostly due to the exaggerated weapon bob and the way aiming worked (someone once explained how the mouse tracking was different between the two games). Everything also felt heavier in-game, from jumping to various weapons. I always preferred Unreal Tournament to Quake 3, mostly because Q3 was all about deathmatch and little else.
UT2004 has more of a Quake 3 feel than the original Unreal Tournament. Yeah, it's sort of an intangible thing. :P
I liked both Quake3 and UT, but UT was my first real shooter (didn't get Half-life untill 2001, poor me). So it naturally made an impact on me. It was fun, frantic, and really good in multiplayer. Fav maps include: Monastery, Morpheus, Orion's Barricade, and Face Worlds CTF map. That CTF map I must have spend more time sniping than any other map in UT.
