I have bugged you guys on this forum a lot lately, but at least it's a different part each time. Thank you guys

I currently have an intel pentium 4 530 3ghz

Is an upgrade to an Intel PentiumE5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz Dual Core really going to make a huge difference?

Also will it even work with myDell 0M3918 Mainboard?

You could disable a core on that E5200 and it would still run circles around that P4.

Not sure if it will work, gonna try and look that board up........ OK, pretty sure that mobo can't handle that CPU, I don't think that mobo can even handle Pentium D's/

IMO u should definitly get atleast a dual, single core CPU will strugle with everything. That E5200 will beat the pants of that P4 u got now.

As for the GPU, don't get 9400 cause its **** The minimum you want to get is HD 4670/9600gt if you want a decent performence when playing games. Personally I would got for 250gts or HD4850/4770. These three GPU will be able to play all the latest game quite easy and should future proff for about 2-3 years.

The main reason I put that card up is because of the power supply my ****** dell dimension 4700 has a 305 watt power supply and most of the other cards I have seen require at least 400 and do you know for sure that that processor will run

Bump and clarification

Can my Dell 0m3918 Mainboard support a dual core processor?

If not what is the highest single-core I can get?

you won't belive the difference.i had a pentium 4 3,2 ghz,2 gb of ram and a radeon 3850 512mb,then got an e2200,which is a lot slower than the e5200,here are some numbers: far cry 2 when from 18 ish fps to around 35,gta from 6 to 18,mirrors edge from 10 to around 30,assasins creed from 12 to 25.btw these are all with the same settings before the upgrade and after...it's amazing the performance gain i got for 70 bucks..

You pretty much have that board maxed out, and any upgrade with be minor and not worth the money. You will be amazed at your performance with a E5200 and a 9600GT or similar. Pentium 4's are way outdated.

Currently I have $90 after August I will have another $140

Right now I was hoping to either up the processor or the graphics card

The thing I don't get is why my mother board won't accept higher processors

other than the fact it has Dell on the front and sides

DUAL - not duel. Completely different words. You need to check if the bios supports the processor want. I don't know where or how you'll be able to do that (I'm not going to, sorry). On the other hand, you should get a new motherboard regardless of what you have now anyway. P4 is old junk, and the motherboard probably is too. I think your best option here is to just build a whole new computer instead of trying to piece together some upgrades on an old board.

Ya but that this whole project for me started by buying a gb of ram and branched off into this.

I have read other places that dell cases don't fit standard motherboards

so thats a new case on top of a new GPU, CPU, and a new power supply unit

At that point I am basically building a new Pc which I am not confident I can afford or do

Okay I googled my chipset and now I am 100% sure I cannot upgrade my processor would there be anyway I could just switch motherboards?

Just buy a new one switch the two and slowly continue to upgrade.
