Ok guys I am fairly clueless about computers when it comes right down to specific specs. I recently got a hold of my family's old desktop and I want to take the pieces and upgrade it for playing some MMOs. I used to play WoW on it and didn't have too much trouble so I know its not a bad computer. This is a link to it's specs: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=bph07908 I know that I am probubly going to need to replace the motherboard, the graphics card and maybe add some more RAM but beyond that I have no idea. I am not looking to spend a lot of money, my goal is to be able to play Warhammer Online (specs here: http://www.warhammeronline.com/faq/tech_specs.php) without any problem. If you guys could help me figure out what needs to be upgraded and maybe point out some good upgrades for me I would really appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Rob

Unfortunately, that Pc really isn't worth upgrading. The CPU is too slow for modern games, and the GPU slot on that motherboard is AGP, which is last generation. The chipset cannot support any of the newer cpus either.

You should consider building from scratch, or just hold onto that PC (without upgrading) for as long as you can.

Time to start from "scratch", ^ Dude you need to take that 8400 higher than 3.6! It's hungry for voltage :D

Hi Rob, I can't recomend you an upgrade, sure it'll get you tru some new games but it's time for a new build.

We can help on recomendations if you are willing to try and build a new one, this is the best way to go cheap.

Alright well thats a little disappointing guys. About what would I be looking at for cost for a new tower then? I am still looking to be able to play Warhammer Online effectivly, I really dont want to spend a lot of money however I don't want the bare miniumum, just something cost-effective.

Well I suppose a $600-700 range would be about what I could spend right now. Possibly build a rig that can be slowly upgraded as games require more advanced components and I get the money to invest.
